soo-zoo-eh

With equal stress on every syllable. It's Japanese and my mother is Japanese.

Forgot: the "eh" sound is a short e as in "bet", not "ay" like a long a. Hope that helps!

Ah, you learn something every day. I'm going to lambast everyone who says it the other way.

So would it sound like suzu-a (a being the literal 'a' sound).

All the LBSs here just pronounce it "suzy," but we also pronounce "Musquodoboit" as "Muskadobbit" so go figure.

Actually more like soo-zoo-eh (with the "eh" sounding short and staccato like the "e" in "bet." Japanese is a very staccato language with the syllables stressed equally and crisply. Who knows, maybe pronouncing it correctly will get you an extra nigiri at the kaiten sushi bar!
