Yeah I think my next bars will be road drops +hoods. Although I have to admit I like the aesthetic of my track bars

Or maybe I'll just throw risers on my Hour and use it as my "around town" bike - and pick up something geared if I still want to pursue longer rides after this winter. ****ing hobbies just drain my bank account.

More like, "I should have track bars for my 'track' bike."

Common mistake.

Just because it's called a track bike doesn't mean it is.

You guys would be amazed. Even on the track, 75% of the handlebars used are actually road bars...because track bars are so uncomfortable.

Whoa.

So people put track drops on their road bikes, and road drops on their track bikes.

Seems like road drops are winning the battle though.

Not that I disagree with the comfort factor Carlton but how much of that choice is because the rider is maintaining the same riding setup across multiple platforms/bikes? Or does that not really play a factor?

That's probably not a determining factor.

Track drops are only useful in events where a standing start is crucial. In most events, you don't sprint right out of the gates, so there isn't a need to come so far out of the saddle to where your forearms would hit the tops of your bars, so track drops aren't needed for more than a couple events.

Here's a standing start. Pay particular attention to the forearms. This is literally the only purpose served by track drops.

Listen here *******, you ever change handlebars on a track bike? I have to loosen two bolts, and then tighten them again.

Nevermind, this is probably too complicated for you.
