Which Brake Lever?
I've been hunting around for some black/silver brake levers.
I think I've decided that I either would like the Cane Creek-SCR5 or the TRP RRL. BUT I really dislike the UGLY hoods on the Cane Creek, and I'm not too fond of the price tag on the TRPs. Thoughts? Suggestions? Any one have experience with both? inb4 kilo tt |
These are VERY different hoods/levers. The CC hood is shorter, fatter, with a flat top and the lever feels narrower.

another option might be the SRAM S500...nice from what i hear...

I don't use breaks on the fixed gear, but when my daad was test riding road bikes, a few of them had SRAM levers. They're really ergonomic and comfy, and have adjustable reach. I say go for the S500's.

I love the S500 but not spring loaded. And at that price srsly??
|
Scrod has them for $65, the SCR5 is $40 on Nashbar, and being SRAM, I'd say its worth the difference in cost. Although the not spring-loaded thing does suck. Are you only using one brake with both levers?
|
Whoops, thought I mentioned I would like spring loaded because yes I only use one brake.
I know scrod has the SRAM. He ordered em' for me, ha! They were supposed to be black and silver too, not all black. |

Why is that? The other levers in this thread are imitations of brifters and I see the TRPs the least.

After an expensive purchase today the choice seems so clear, Cane Creek it is.

Maybe it's the angle, but it seemed to ape that overgrown, protruding-hood thing the most. Not hating, BTW.

When I saw how cheap Scrod was selling the S500's for I almost **** out my dick. Paid quite a bit more than that if I remember right

The SCR5's are unbearably uncomfortable, IMO. SRAM is worth the price difference.

Why you gotta diss the SCR-5's yo? They look and feel pretty damn good to me. Anyway, if one is too ugly for you and the other too expensive, why are they the two choices you've settled on? Doesn't make any sense.

Tektro R200A's are copies of the SCR-5, with a different hood pattern.

Again, he wants silver.
Other way around. Cane Creek levers are rebranded Tektros. |
They do make silver SCR-5s, which is why Wilson is considering them.
Damn, guys. |
Haha I see. You were saying he's still considering what he thinks of as ugly levers because they are silver/black.
I don't know why I interpreted that as "they don't make them in silver". Could be cuz I was blogging all last night and this afternoon. Damn I need to get out and go for a ride. |
