Finally getting my first fixed gear bike; I cant believe they have one, and its even my size! An '05, winter deal for 500 bucks. Ever since last summer ridding one for an hour left me with weird urge every time I think back on it. The guys in the bike club tell me I have a death wish, look at me like Im crazy and tell me I'm nuts; what's wrong with track bikes? I need advice anyhow. Online they say the bars it comes with are no good for city ridding, true? what would you guys suggest? and anything else that would improve the bike too. thanks.....

i went with my friend just today to pick up his Pista. They're awfully slick for the price. I'm not sure why the bars wouldn't be good for city riding, unless you were planning on staying in the drops and keeping your head down...they were regular pista-style bars but felt short, like some had hacked off an inch or two from the ends.

Anyway, congrats. Search the forum for others' opinions and advice from other Pista owners.

Wow, they're damn sexy. And quite cheap!

Almost makes me think twice about building my own.

Does the front fork have a hole in it for a brake caliper?

yea, there's a front brake hole.

Thanks for the reply. can you tell me the reason someone buys bullhorn bars? I look at them and they seem interesting, like they could be comfortable but not sure how taking turns would be with them.

don't listen to the guys in your "club", they have obviously never ridden a track bike. Have fun, learn how to ride it in a closed area first, then hit the road/track whatever you like.

Riding with bullhorns is not that hard, it's very comfortable, just don't have drops to get in to.

bullhorns are nice for leverage during skids but I ride track bars for aesthetic reasons and because I like grabbing the drops during sprints.

I like the bullhorn style for climbing.

I like riding on the flats of the bars and on the hoods of my geared bike. That's why I like bullhorns on my pista. Track bars have flats to speak of.

Thanks to the advice I have received on this forum, I have found a Bianchi dealer here in my community, and I plan to get Pista with my Income Tax Refund.
I intend to put a front brake on it and bullhorns.
I ride in traffic and, for me, flat bars with bar ends, or bullhorns (same thing) give me the best acceleration and climbing ability; and, the slightly more erect postion that goes with the bullhorns makes it easier for me to look around and keep track of everything.
