um,

I think to answer this question, one only need to look at the number of people browsing each one of the bike forums and you will realize that the singlespeed fixed gear one is ALWAYS full of people geeking out on the internet about bikes.

I have never seen any of the other forums with more people in it.

jfmckenna 01-27-05 07:57 PM

rush was this liquid record cleaner stuff you could buy at a head shop in the 80's. One snif and you would see spots and for some reason we thought that was cool.

As far as hiding behind punk goes, still today it is the firewall of justice.

myxbyx 01-28-05 06:34 AM

I see oversized guys with football logos painted on their bare chests and faces shaking it on live tv and who's a carnival freak?

'punk is the firewall of justice'

'it's only rock and roll, but I like it'

Wierd Beard 01-28-05 06:46 AM

I like Rush (among many, many other bands and genres), what does that make me?

Not Dungeons and Dragons though. Maybe that makes it ok....

You can ride wit me anytime you're in town. (And I'm in town too, cause if I'm not here, you're on your own...)

Hide behind the PUnk music? I have never stopped listening to it since hearing for the first time back in 1983. I still wear my checkered vans. One of the reasons I hate the designer punks.

If you take it okay about not knowing who the Ateam is, yeah.

Glad you still wear the agreed upon uniform. Otherwise, we might not be able to identify you as punk. ha.

highpants 01-28-05 04:31 PM

also, it was helpful that you were able to quantify your experience within punkdom. that will help us to make sure we don't overlook you at the upcoming street cred ceremony.

what?

oh, right. well, neal pert has always been an amazing drummer in my book, but unlike the who, i don't think that's going to win rush a slot in my record collection.

all the same, mayonnaise brings up a good point, one that i try my best not to think about, as it sends shivers down my spine. i suppose the trick is to try to balance the ursula k. leguinn or whatever the hell her name is with some nick hornby or other hipster lit every once in a while to sort of dull the nerdiness.

and i should probably wear some longer pants from time to time.

I Am Going To Run Through This Forum And Take Everyones Lunch Money!

Slartibartfast 01-28-05 05:59 PM

Whatever ... the punk rock hides behind me!!! Wait, I can't back that up.

OK ... so my screen name comes from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and my real name is ... errr ... Stewart, but I always thought of myself as more nerdy than geeky. Is that an improvement? I'll be in the library.

I don't know. I always thought of nerds as being the ones who walked funny from having spent too much time in their task chairs during puberty.

neuron 01-28-05 11:17 PM

posting on an internets forum.

check.

I'm not sure what a task chair is - sounds like something you have to pay extra for at a leather bar - but riding a fixie on ice (in atlanta where we normally don't see it) is going to make me walk funny for a while.
