any fat guys in here?
I weigh 270, 6'1". I got a fixed-gear to get me back into riding (i would flirt with commuting on my MTB, then fade after 3 days, rinse lather repeat). So far i am sticking with it. Anyone else rotund up in here? I'm enjoying my Kilo immensely. I lost 8 lbs so far and am looking forward to the days my calves resemble my 215 lb era. Riding to bars (probably, the source of my fatness) has me drinking less and burning more off.

I'm on track to be less fat. 6'3", currently around 200. Was at 230 earlier this year. I ride about 150 each week, minimum.

6'5", 245lb here. I'm a weightlifter and stay lean but I did put on a few pounds of fat for the coming Fall/Winter.
Stick to it. Biking is a great way to burn those excess calories and improve cardiovascular health, something that I see a lot of people neglect.

I'm 5'6" and down to 160 after about 6 years of being anywhere from 180-200. mostly due to changing my eating habits and riding everywhere. not to mention playing basketball all the time. Just keep at it man, you'll drop that weight in no time.

6' and 230 myself. Im usually about 220 but work and baby seems to have put 10 lbs on me lately. Many years ago after a college beer and pizza diet i was up to 260!!
Bike commuting will come to a halt for the winter but i sure feel better for the day when i bike to work.

Never been "fat" in a classic sense but my gut takes the brunt of any weight gain. I usually get a belly during the rainy season and get back to a six pack when I get a regular cycling schedule running again. It's so easy to lose when you love the bike you're riding; I think that's the key.

6'2" 215 right now. Been up to almost 240. Actually started trail running in addition to cycling to shed some weight and get in shape for ski season. A 90 minute trail run kicks my behind about the same as a 100k fixed ride, if not more. Goal is under 200 by end of winter. On track to make it, especially if we get some snow and the nordic ski trails open up.

I love how there aren't many fat guys in the forum because they are all now former fat guys. Great job to all the people in this thread for the weight loss, it's definitely not an easy thing to do for some.
Never was "fat" but I've lost about 20lbs since changing some aspects of my lifestyle, one of which is cycling regularly.

Fresh Garbage
I used to be 220, and it may not have been "fat" but it was getting there if kept unchecked. I'm currently stable at 200 - comfortably filled in - and was 180 at my lightest.

I was 6'1 and 160 lbs by about junior year of high school and have stayed that way +/- 5 lbs ever since. I'm not looking forward to when my young man metabolism slows down. I do eat very healthily and stay active so hopefully I can stay this way. The sqrl and I have pledged to cut down on fast food a lot when we get back to the US and I think that will be a good habit for both of our health and wallets.

I'm 6'1 and move between 180-190 depending on how much I lift. If I dont lift I move down to 175 if I lift im up to 200 within 2 month. So I try and find a balance.

I was sort of there. I'm 5' 10", and I was really close to 200 last year. I'm coming down a bit, but the beginning of cold weather is starting to hurt. When I was a senior in high school, I weighed 150, and was in insanely good shape because of soccer, a gym class I was taking, and marching band all at the same time. I really miss that.

I've lost 12lbs since I stopped, and I believe it's because I have a regular eating schedule (no more eating at 3am after getting home then going right to sleep), and no more eating bad foods (eating "quick" resulted in scarfing down whatever was fastest to cook).

My low is usually around 175 half the year, the other half I push up toward 230-240 due to Hoshimoto's. I'm 6' and ride 150-200 a week.
Right now I'm at 232 wearing size 38/32 jeans. By February I'll be back down at 30/32. Having no functioning metabolisms sucks balls.

As for the "old man" metabolism, I think that's not usually a symptom of metabolic change as much as it is lifestyle change. Our metabolisms do slow with age, yes, but look at the lifestyle of your average 20-something vs. the average 30-something. Being single, childless, and working part-time hours (i.e. not a "9-5" fixed schedule) gives a lot more time for physical activity. (plus the fact that your bones and joints haven't betrayed you yet ) Whereas the typical 30-something is more likely to be married, have kids, and have the kind of job and working hours they need to support them. (and the car and house payments, and...)
Personally, at 33 I'm in way better shape than I was at 23. (I am still single and childless , but I do work full-time )
If you're active and reasonably fit now, with reasonable eating habits, I think you'll probably be alright.
