Kilo TT , 47cm or 50cm frame? Please help!

Hi! I'm currently thinking about purchasing a 2012 Kilo TT, and I'm having trouble deciding between the 47cm and the 50cm frame. I'm 5'5 with an inseam of 30.5" (without shoes)

The measurements for the TT are as follows:
47cm (c-c) is 50cm(c-t) with TT of 513mm and standover of 29 inches
50cm (c-c) is 53cm(c-t) with TT of 523mm and standover of 30.4 inches

If I get the 47cm, will the seat post look excessively awkward because it's very high?
Thanks so much in advance, help is greatly appreciated.

Choose the bike with the closest top tube measurement from what nagrom's link gives you. Or if you're lazy and of average proportion, just go with the 47cm. But I still advise you to do fit calc provided above.

I really wish someone would start a thread all about Kilo TTs.

The top tube on the 47cm is a little longer than 513mm.

Thanks Nagrom and Impetus! I got the measurements from that site, but I heard the Kilo TT's have strange sizes, and I don't exactly fit the size that it recommended me on the calculator.

It's saying I should ride a 53cm Kilo TT, but I heard those run big?

Nagrom_ 11-22-12 02:37 PM

Show us your measurements, those results look off.

Impetus 11-22-12 10:35 PM

Idk if you can mount a 53cm kilo lol. I'm 5'8" (31.5 inseam) and my buddy has one, and my junk is hugging the top tube. There might've been a discrepancy in the measurement of your arms. Try to re-measure. If anything, you can go one size smaller but use a longer stem

I'm just gonna say from my research when I considered a kilo TT that most people around your height and inseam got the 50 and were completely fine with their choice.

I own a 47 kilo TT pro and my inseam is 29 and it's spot on. I would recommended carefully measuring yourself and go with the size that would give you better clearance. Its better for it to be a little smaller than a little too big.

jlafitte 11-24-12 06:31 PM

I'm 5'8" with a 30" inseam. I got a 50cm Kilo TT a few weeks ago and it's a perfect ride. Top of seat tube to top of seat is 6", had to raise it a little after I started wearing Chrome Arnhems. btw my road bike of 25 years is a 52 as is commonly measured.

msklumzi 11-26-12 09:21 PM

Thanks everybody! I decided to go with the 47cm because I think my arms/torso are a bit short compared to my legs. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

gigantor 11-27-12 02:25 AM

I typically size down a tad. It's easier to replace the stem and buy a seatpost with some setback, than to replace the frame.

I'm 5'10" with a 33 inch cycling inseam. i'm going to buy a 53cm kilo TT this week.
