Meh, not too bad. I think I paid ~$120 for a pair of Lake MX170(w).

Hah, I only had s-works in mind. Good to know there are more reasonable options.

Have you mastered your no-handed trackstands yet? I wouldn't want to use clipless unless I was 100% on that.

Muffin Man 12-06-12 03:10 PM

Go to a lbs for shoes.

Once you can do that, the next step is juggling. You really need clipless for that next level ****.

+1

Especially if your juggling ceramic bearings. Those things are fast!

You can buy a lot of PBR for $50.

Seriously sig-worthy right here.

Have you considered getting into RC car racing? I think you might fit in better with that crowd.

Bat56 12-06-12 03:48 PM

oops

dookie 12-06-12 03:53 PM

if your current bearings are toast, by all means get high quality replacements. but if they're still serviceable, this is a pointless upgrade. myself? i'd do the stainless enduros before i'd do ceramic.

Scrodzilla 12-06-12 03:56 PM

Ceramic bearings are 99.9% hype. I forget what the other .1% is.

Nagrom_ 12-06-12 04:11 PM

hype.

Muffin Man 12-06-12 05:14 PM

Street cred.

There we have it.

100% hype.

FixedDriveJess 12-06-12 06:31 PM

so what would you guys say is the best bearing to buy with out going over board. Just as a replacement set for the ritchey..

ColonelJLloyd 12-06-12 06:33 PM

Enduro abec 3 bearings.

FixedDriveJess 12-06-12 06:34 PM

I doubt the best bearing without going over board is that.

Nagrom_ 12-06-12 06:38 PM

Abec 5?

hockeyteeth 12-06-12 06:54 PM

It has little relevance to bicycle wheels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABEC_scale

It's the quality of the bearing... he wanted higher quality...

seems relevant.

hockeyteeth 12-06-12 07:07 PM

The increased quality doesn't indicate any increase in durability or smoothness, just that they can spin with less oscillation at much higher RPMs than a bicycle wheel achieves.

Nagrom_ 12-06-12 07:10 PM

Sure, but I don't think the guy cares.

He just wants to spend more money.

ColonelJLloyd 12-06-12 07:11 PM

Just buy $50 bearings so you'll feel better about your bike, dude. You're the expert, right?

Scrodzilla 12-06-12 07:13 PM

NoHandedJess is coming up quick but TheElitePoop is the expert.

hairnet 12-06-12 07:18 PM

Hhahahahaha!

linus 12-06-12 07:57 PM

If you want high quality bearings, get a set of SKF bearings.

FixedDriveJess 12-06-12 09:00 PM

Guys, guys, guys...

I just want to replace the crap/broken bearings with nice ones. That's all.
