yay my bike got stolen!
locked up, left for less than 15 minutes. went in to cash my check. They even took the lock... so i cant contact kryptonite whatever the amount was covered by that lock.
filed a police report, they where on camera, description of bike down to every last detail including electrical tape covering a tear in bar tape from a crash.
only way to work, i work 16 miles away and the nearest bus stop is about 7 miles... so now instead of getting an apartment with the money ive been saving i have to buy a bike. id love to get a fixed gear but i cant pass up a decent roadie. ive just gone back about 20 steps or another month before i can get a place and not live with bro and his wife.

it wasnt a spensive kryptonite but if theyd just left the ****ing lock i would be atleast semi alright with this considering it would have covered a new bike. i rarely ever leave my bike out, the only time its locked up outside is on the dock at work which is gated...it was a thick cable kryptonite, i had planned on buying a second ulock as the main, was waiting on tonights paycheck... my bike is beat up and dirty as snot, never thought anyone would steal it... it was next to like 6 other bikes. apperently in the video footage, he wasnt able to ride it very well and fell over a few times. If only i was still running brakeless with my clipless setup.

Check with your auto insurance company, I know mine charges $4 per month for bicycle coverage with only a $100 deductible for replacement if stolen. But unless your bike is worth more than say $1000 then it isnt worth it.

it is really my fault, i should have gotten a better lock and im beating up myself . but i never lock my bike up outside work except to cash my check here and there. i didnt think that... garage is semi enclosed, mutliple bikes. isnt visible from the streets or people walking by... who picks one bike out of 10.... someone had to have been sitting around waiting. it sucks but ill never again lock up a bike withouth the utmost protection even if its for 5 minutes... now just to aquire wheels to get to ****ing work :|
edit:
gaah i wasnt as mad as earlier but...more irritating and more..**** on camera security said he had hard time riding and fell over, i thought oh **** my brothers here lets ride down where the said he went but nope :|

Wheels are now Weinmann DP18s, cranks are no-name 144 BCD 44x16 instead of FSA 48x15 (i think that was the spec in the past). Hubs are no-name (i think they used to be Formula?). Headset is 1 inch threadless.

the female cop "cute, if i see her off duty totaly going to play dumb and ask her for a drink ect" gave me a piece of paper and highlighted the area with detectives # ect on top, it says if i want a copy of the police report, it can be obtained during such and such hours 7 days a week at said address for a "NOMINAL FEE"
are you ****ing kidding me?

Do you have renter's/homeowner's content insurance? Bikes are frequently covered by that. Depends on value of bike and your deductible...
Had a bike stolen, called insurance company. My deductible was $500; bike cost $500, insurance co. said I could make the claim, but it might affect my rate and I wouldn't get any money anyway.

Not kidding; that's the way it works. Do you think the cop should hand deliver the copy of the report to you? The report will cost $2. Skip one Sunday paper and it'll be fine.

You have to register your lock and pay a yearly fee to get any kind of coverage. If you didn't do that, don't lose sleep over the fact that they took the lock.

I'm so sorry to hear about you loss That absolutely sucks! It's a long shot but keep an eye on craigslists within about 500 miles. A lot of times it's a crime ring that does this enough that they can hold the bike in hiding for about 6 months, swap parts with other bikes, and send it to another state to sell. I've had a bike recovered after a theft though so it's not to say that it's impossible. Just keep an eye out online as best you can. You can use this to search multiple craigslist cities at a time https://www.adhuntr.com/
The cable locks also don't come with that theft protection so even if he did... https://kryptonite.zendesk.com/attac...bsite_2012.pdf

No, I was very clear that it was stolen from a subway station a couple miles away. Covered by content insurance; does not have to be on location at the apt/house at time of theft. Maybe depends on insurance co...?

Your cog is slipping.
An inland marine insurance policy will cover a stolen bike (or just about anything else other than a motor vehicle, for that matter) regardless of where it was stolen. Google it.
