First Fixed Gear Build
Hey guys,
So after taking my friend's fixed gear bike out for a few rides I have decided to start a project and build my own. I have acquired my dad's old lugged steel frame road bike (Schwinn...something). To may dismay, though, it is quite rusted. Most everything is pretty much unsalvageable except for the frame and maybe stem/handlebars - which is okay since I only really want it for the frame.
Anyways.... my question goes out to anyone that has experience building bikes from old frames because I need help removing rust/painting. From what I can see from a basic inspection it is just surface rust and the frame should be okay. What is the best way to remove rust and paint/restore the frame?
Any insight on this or tips for the build in general are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Ben

Take it to someone who powder coats. They can media blast it for probably 30 bucks.
