I ask cause I have a 70's schwinn traveler with a long reach (65 mm I believe) single pivot caliper and it's not as effective as I'd like it to be. I worked to minimize friction in the cable and put on decent pads and it's acceptable if I keep the rims and pads clean but I live in a hilly area and it's not super confidence inspiring. I think I have an old BMX caliper lying around, maybe I'll try that if the reach matches up. Sweet bike by the way. Fixed in the winter is great, makes short rides fun.

I actually really like this. Gearing looks sensible and the camo tape doesn't piss me off, surprisingly. Nice.
I took a chance with the tape and so far everybody that has seen it likes it. |

Day two on the Raleigh... added Nitto bullmoose bars for that old school flavour and function, upped the brakes, and added a beverage holder for my bulletproof coffee.
It has been too long since I rode fixed in the winter... the bike is fun with a capital F. http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...13thumper4.jpg http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...13thumper5.jpg |

NDS = non-drive side. The drive side is the side with the chain on it. The drive side is the side you photograph. Every time.

Alright I get it thank you.

Here's my Interpro track bike. I purposely built it without a brake to resist riding it on the street and wreckin the frame, but I've taken it out for a couple cruises around town already. It's a Korean Keirin frame with Tange tubing. I bought the frame and fork from an acquaintance who makes some pretty sweet bags in LA. I was told the frame sold for 800 originally, but the whole build cost me roughly 600, excluding the ****ty alex front wheel and the gran prix 4000s' which I already had. The back wheel I bought from my boss for 55 bucks. It's a phil hub, cog, and lockring laced to a mavic rim. It was a great feeling to fully build a bike from scratch compared to buying from a store/online. Sorry for the ton of pics but I love this thing.
The frame is black with a gold flake paint job. And here's some stem slammage.... it might be slammed but the bars aren't very low :D. Also I would recommend these FSA omega compact bars to anyone. They are insanely comfortable. |

Does that front wheel have enough tension? Those spokes look unusually bendy.

Wrong length spokes.
It's a fully laced 3l/3t pattern on a low flange hub so the spokes got bent. The wheel is stiff and perfectly true and has been so for the last 6 months of urban riding without needing to be trued. |
