The "Jolly Green Jiant," I suppose?

SS_Giant 04-18-13 10:59 AM

^^ Invisible boards!! yes!! Yeah Right! was my jam as a youngster. The Owen Wilson cameo kills me everytime, 'cmon spanky blitz'd that in the emerica video!'

That's straddling the line between genius and Jackass.

seau grateau 04-18-13 12:13 PM

Pfft. Do it brakeless or GTFO

iTripped 04-18-13 12:16 PM

If you saw it locked to a parking meter, then yes, it would be jackass. But there is nothing jackass about a purpose built vehicle to test land speed records.

Nagrom_ 04-18-13 12:18 PM

To test land speed records?

100mph was broken like... +60 years ago?

radmonkey 04-18-13 12:20 PM

i thought it might be jackass and then i thought it might not be since it was just for trying to go 100mph. figured it was worth sharing anyway

iTripped 04-18-13 12:46 PM

I'm pretty sure someone else has gone around the track faster than you, Nagrom but I don't see that stopping you from riding. I dunno, maybe we are all just tapped out of finding good examples of JA bikes - it just feels a little forced lately.

Nagrom_ 04-18-13 12:51 PM

I guess that's kind of an argument?

iTripped 04-18-13 12:59 PM

Yeah, I wasn't really articulate there. I guess my argument is : so what if the record was set ages ago? Why should that stop someone from trying it today, or even just to build a bike with a set speed goal in mind? Are you suggesting that makes the guy a jackass?

Nagrom_ 04-18-13 01:02 PM

No, but using a <1400g carbon wheelset on a bike meant to break 100 is.

Death wish.

SpeshulEd 04-18-13 01:12 PM

Hey now, the only thing forced is that light blue seat on the jolly green jiant bike, haha.

at least they locked it up pretty good.

GMJ 04-19-13 08:32 AM

For scootin' the ladies around town. I think its genius.

LesterOfPuppets 04-19-13 09:05 AM

That is awesome. Hope he gets a sweet pair of pegs on there, too!

What's up with the seatpost, though? Looks like a scraped up piece of sidewalk chalk from the front. Modded with a dull keyhole saw?

End of the brake lever really should be outboard of the bars, though. Some people just don't know how to set up bum bars!

Leukybear 04-19-13 12:41 PM

I need myself a stem saddle too!

iTripped 04-19-13 01:23 PM

Bike is locked properly, Drive side photo provided, no foot retention BUT features a brake. Seems legit.

(is there a pub-bikes subculture I need to know about?)

PS - oh yeah, has anyone else heard of the 'golden caliper' rule? This bike seems to have a pair installed. Basically, if the ladie's ass won't fit between the grips, she's too big to ride.
