Agreed. In previous years they were offered with chrome lugs, which were obviously way nicer.

When he was in LA, he used to ride a black Pure Fix with those green wheels, which didn't look too bad. He was hit by a car and bike was destroyed. He just recently moved to El Paso with his girlfriend and had sent me a note saying he was buying a Bianchi, to which I suggested a more classic style build. A few weeks later, he sends that photo.

He's like 6'4" and riding a 50cm bike, I can only imagine what he looks like while riding it.

The problem here is not the 1 1/8 stem, IMHO. It's the execution. They did good by going with the -17 degree Velo Orange but they got the regular stem & some badly mismatched spacers. I would have left the steerer tube uncut and ditched the spacers, used the VO tall stack instead. 99% problem solved.

Also, the chrome lugs > cream for sure. But, that frame with the cream lugs is SO miss-matched you can't really judge it off that.

For my taste, the only way a threadless stem on that frame could work is if it has comparable paint and lugs.

Otherwise a quill stem is de rigeur on a lugged frame.

To me that looks like a tool, no a recreational vehicle. Something about it makes me think it's deliberately low for some kind of industrial purpose. Like from point a-to-b remaining under machinery or conveyor belts.

I'm probably wrong though, since it isn't OSHA yellow or orange.

It does look like fun, but as something you make yourself, like a swing bike. If I bought this I would probably grow bored of it quickly.

It's like the boogie board of trikes. Worse things have found success on kickstarter.
