Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The more I read, the more I realize SS/FG is fairly nuanced. Does anyone publish a good book on building and maintaining fixed gear or single speed bicycles? They have one called One Gear on Amazon, any thoughts?
Thanks

The correct answer is Sheldon Brown's fixed gear section for all your fixed specific questions. Most general bike riding/ maintence books can be used to help your cycling. But they are not especially in depth for your riding. So a library check out would be suffiencent.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, can't stop, don't want to.

The only thing really nuanced about SS/FG maintenance is that you don't need to pay attention to like 50% of a normal repair book. The park blue book doesn't suck.

Outside of cabled systems and multiple gear components, it's all the same. The only thing you might not see is mention that a locknut is left threaded.
