Paselas for townies/budget bikes. Grand Bois 28's for faster bikes where ride quality matters more than $$. I've never bothered with the tourguard version of Paselas as I've never gotten a flat with the regular ones (although I'm quite vigilant about tire pressure).

I really want to try the Challenge Parigi-roubaix. Folks seem to love em.

So what tires have met your palette of rubber? Do tell.

These were pretty nice in the day, but they haven't been made for many a year:

These were a little racier, but again no longer made:

They sure haven't. Babies have been getting a lot heavier.

Did some clean up here. Come on guys, it's all fun until someone shoots an eye out with the trusty Daisey Red Ryder BB Gun of Insultery.

awwwwwwwwww, coooooooome oooooonnnnnnnn. I only pumped it like twice. It probably didn't even hurt.

The point, that I made in a way which deserved to be made fun of, was that you can get tires with a fantastic ride, like handmade silk tubulars. The two lightweight tires I mentioned approach that quality. So do the Challenge Parigi-Roubaixs mentioned by tashi. There are a few others, too. One thing all those tires have in common, though, is that they are expensive, short-lived, and fragile - at least compared with things like TourGuards. Which is why I asked the question of the OP in the first place.

Don't forget veloflex if you want a classic looking yet high performance tire! A bit pricey though. ;)

The Veloflex Record is a bit much, but the Veloflex Master is only about 10 bucks more than a kevlar TG. Not too bad imo.

The Veloflex Master is a great tire if you are looking for a light supple tire with moderate puncture resistance.

Or you could convert to 650B like I just did and run Grand Bois Hetres.
