Needing help, sorry about last thread.
I am sorry about my other thread, I didn't mean to offend anyone, I just saw that 90+ people looked and I wasn't getting any help.
I wasn't trying to be rude I just needed the info on the stuff by this morning, we're in two different places almost 3 hours away and he was only coming here for the day. So I neded help that night so I could get them or not. Now I have to make the trip to him if I want to get them if they even fit my bike. So again I am sorry if I may have offended anyone I wasn't trying to. I just needed the info asap before today. So I see someone closed my last thread so i thought I would ask again so I could ask him if he could at least meet me halfway this time. Sorry again guys, and Hope you all could help me out. To start this off I have a vilano edge chromoly (I know a cheap bike) but I like it and its working perfectly for me. I am now wanting to upgrade some parts to make it a little better. My question is this, I am having doubts on if these will fit my bike. I ride it on fixed and the crank is coming loose, I tighten it and it still comes loose so I am needing an upgrade, I found these on Craigslist and he only want's 60 for everything so I really want to get them but not trying to get them and them not fit. I am new to all of this and have no idea about these bikes and parts. So I made this to ask this question and to get a little more knowledgeable about them. Here are the parts I am wanting, http://louisville.craigslist.org/bik/3714745980.html Please if you could help me with my problem I would greatly appreciate it, Thank you in advances. |
It is hard to tell from the Interet what the actual size seatpost and headset your bike has but those look like they should be the right size to me. It would be best if you could measure though. If you go with the double chainring though you should be aware that you might have chainline issues. Maybe it would be better to slow down and do some research before rushing into buying.

Headset is a 1 1/8" Threadless I think. But That's my main issue was the crank, I really just need that but it was a good price so I was just going to take it all. Cause I want some drop downs and I would love the new headset, and The crank was my main buy from this all cause I am having issues with mine. But yeah that's why I really wanted help cause I didn't want to rush and buy them without knowing 100% if they'd fit. |
This Is the specs on my bike I am sorry I didn't add this before.

If you like the bits, buy them. Those that don't suit/ fit, sell on eBay.

Is it all worth $60?? Probably. Is it worth that to you********** That's for you to answer. Realize your main concern with your bike is a crank arm that comes lose. Your main interest in this lot is the crankset and it is not the right one for your bike, count...one, two. Count on your bike, one......... See?? Would it work? Probably. Could you make it work??? With your experience, probably not.
The rest of the stuff. Still probably worth sixty bucks. None of it is the slobber inducing so called "high end" stuff. But it still as a group is worth the asking price. But, I don't think to you. Your seatpost is exactly one inch?? This one is 27.2. A simple Google conversion search (taking less time than typing this sentence) would show that it won't fit. 42cm bars. That is a fit item. Will it fit you? 100mm stem is a fit item. Is it your size. 130-135 saddle.....you should be getting the idea. SPD pedals.....do you have shoes to use them or is that another $60, at least, to even use them on your bike. So......... Is is worth $60?? Yes. But, the chances are very good that it wouldn't be worth it to you. That's with it being around the block. Not with the time/distance considerations you have brought up. :) |
Oh yeah.
The crank arm that comes loose. Do you know that you don't just snug them up when you tighten it??? Look up the specs then use a torque wrench. Then................you can say that the crank arm won't stay tight.;) |

I do weigh 230 and I ride 50 miles a day so I am sure I wear it out of how big I am and how much I ride.
If it is indeed that bad the bottom bracket spindle may be damaged also. Make sure it's as tight as it should be and take it from there. BTW, there are quite a few posters in the "Bicycle Mechanics" that could tell you for sure.......after you make sure you have it tightened to spec first. |

No, your size and distance did not wear out the crankarm, I say that but you should shortly hear how I am wrong from someone. However, it may have been stripped due to not having enough torque on it and it comming loose.

Go ahead, get 'em. Screw 'em on and go for it.
At the very least you will have established sizes to go off of for the correct fit. The parts are probably worth $60 in general, it's not possible for us to tell you how much of the package would do you any good in particular. You might be able to use some of them, but there might not be one of them that will work for you. Remember, the cranks are wrong. At this point, it's your choice. |

What size crank would I be looking for so I know what to look for when/if I look for one.
