Only and idiot would live there.

Exactly.

Oh yeah, no vagrants whatsoever. Seriously, where are they?

Also, they powerwash their palm trees. And costco is right next to a HUGE zeppelin hanger. Can't go wrong with that.

Heavens no, some places struggle to keep their roads patched up let alone splurge on the underserved cyclist.

I just got out of seeing I, Origin and it was really good. I am 3 for 3 of movies this month. Planet of the Apes & Obvious Child were also really good.

made the mistake of throwing on my windbreaker 1/2 mile from home because it was sprinkling. the rain stopped, and i was behind schedule so i didn't stop to remove it.
arrived at work completely drenched in sweat.

Realized if I drink a fith before sleep I wake up with a hang over that makes me an angry grill cook but half a bottle and I'm peachy. Just not as fun.

This pump is awesome; easily reaches high PSI's. The trick is to wait a second or two on a up stroke for the pump to suck in air before pushing it down.

Today I went to REI with my mother and we bought her a new bicycle.

Never been to staten island, but I can confirm it is nice here if you can deal with our tradition of lunatics with firearms: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout

It's got some good rides and nice houses. Everything is all sprawled out prolonging said rides. And not much else *special* though. But then again, it's pretty much a given you'd have a car and in driving distance of whatever in LA/ OC.
The perfect place imo to bring up a family considering how peaceful and drawn away the place is. Great schools too.

My wife and I left Irvine in '92 because we didn't want to raise children in California. Ultimately, it worked out for our particular situation (grandparents up in NJ), as we moved to Northern VA. Now, I no longer would raise kids in Northern VA.

The riding was very good in and around Irvine and the neighboring coast and foothills. Really nice, and fragrant with the orange blossoms, which I suppose are no longer there...

It was a complicated question for us. The weather was wonderful, and we really enjoyed all of the outdoor activities. Thought that would be a great thing for the kids. But there were difficulties:

- grandparents (both sets) would be 3000 miles away - so contact would be limited
- real estate prices were hyperinflated in the late 80s and early 90s, and we felt that it couldn't sustain. Costs were so high that it put pressure on us for dual earners, when we wanted my wife to have the choice to stay home and raise them, which we were able to do in VA
- traffic congestion limited the way you lived your life, trying to work around the commuter patterns and traffic load. It really had an impact on planning everyday activities
- visible shifts in state politics didn't look good for long-term viability - we disagreed with the direction things were going
- While parts of CA were noted for good schools, VA had great public universities and good schools, too
- lastly, an intangible factor, but we sensed a superficiality there in orange county. Whether real, different from anywhere else, or not, didn't matter. We mistrusted our children's eventual peers - and did not trust the schools to reinforce what we were teaching at home, belying a future battle there

So, in the balance, we thought that the move to VA was best for our situation.

Today I realized I need to get clipless for the Puch, the clips and straps are not bothering my feet, I just can't stand clips and straps.
