I want to really kick my CX season into high gear so naturally I've got a terrible head cold.

Today I was one shy of a podium.

4th out 41 in the men's 4/5 CX on the Nature Boy on a super fun course. Can't wait for the 1 and 2 guys to Cat up. They are in the top three almost every time. One of them raced a few hours later and landed 3rd in the 3/4 race. He's done consistently well in that field also and is at least a Cat 3 on the road.

Crank came off my GF's bike mid-ride. I bought the bike from a friend that has been building bikes for several years, so I trusted there would be no issues. Guess again...

Broke my rear hanger yesterday because of ridiculously thick mud. I couldn't believe it. Rode maybe 1 mile when it snapped -- couldnt ride the bike so i had to carry it 1 mile back. Such a PITA  Then went to a carwash and pressure washed it clean.. Ugh. Went ahead and ordered the bits i need to make it a 1x11 setup though :thumb:

no chain tool? A mile isn't that far to walk I guess, but if you were 5+ miles out... Making it an SS on the trail would be the only way to go.

50voltphantom 09-26-17 01:18 PM

Got up early to go ride in the rain at 5:30 in the morning the last two days. Hopefully it'll be dry at 5:30 tomorrow morning.

Unkle Rico 09-26-17 03:09 PM

I had one with me but everything was so caked in mud that I didn't want to bother. But yeah, SS would have been the fix!

Haven't ridden in 2 days because I've been studying for midterms and I'm dying. All I want is to ride :(

It was dry today!

Dannihilator 09-27-17 06:35 PM

Today I didn't get the chance to ride.

seau grateau 09-27-17 07:20 PM

Today I went out for a little over 20 miles. Couldn't ride the past couple days because I was knocked out and feeling sick after a long weekend with very little sleep.

Well could have been worse than 1 mile out... Still stinks that the hanger broke.

My light doesn't work right. It fell off the dang mount and before I had a chance to pick it up some dipwad drove over it in there huge Mercedes SUV (empty of course) Now I have to hope Light and Motion will warranty it!

Dannihilator 09-27-17 07:37 PM

That stinks, hopefully light and motion takes care of you..

They have in the past so hopefully that hasn't changed. If so I might figure out a way to mount my old Niterider Lumina on the mount with some epoxy or glue or something because that broke and they weren't able to replace it.

That was you?

I tired to avoid running over the light but didn't want to swerve for fear of spilling my latte. It costs a fortune to have leather cleaned properly. Sorry about that.

Would have stopped but the cafe always runs out of avocado toast and so I had to keep going. I'm sure you understand.

Gorilla Glue works great for this. I did that to a Trek headlight mount years ago and it even held up to the torquing from re-attaching to the handlebar. Good luck!

Hey Dave, want to ride this weekend?

30 miles, road ride, 2000 ft elevation. 15 MPH pace.

Let me know.

Tim,

That does sound fun. I have 2 more physical therapy visits, but if all goes well, I should be back to riding in a few weeks. How's everything?

HAHAHAHAHAHA....I didn't know you were a lady.

Avocado toast is good eatin' forget those weird yuppie morons who eat it as well it is just good. Though I would probably eat avocado on most anything and have been known to peel an avocado like an orange and just eat it.

Here in the south they cut the avocado in half, pour balsamic vinaigrette into the cavity and eat it with a spoon.

It's as good as ice cream far as I'm concerned.

Gotta get in those nighttime study-break rides.

When I was still in uni I would hit a couple laps on the little crit course I put together on campus backroads.

That sounds like something I need to try.

There is a great chinese restaurant near me that somehow has an avocado cloning machine that makes absotutely perfect avocados year round. However it is the sweet miso dressing they make that will amaze you. It is literally a cut up avocado and the dressing but gotdangit it is the best the best the best the best the best...of you?

I have semi copied it to an extent without knowing the recipe with hosin, miso paste, a touch of soy sauce and rice wine or coconut vinegar but it is not quite as good. I am probably missing something.

seau grateau 09-29-17 06:53 PM

Went out for about 40 miles today. First half kinda sucked -- hot, sunny, and climbing into headwinds. Second half felt much better, and pretty much all my best times on segments came in the last 3 miles. Probably not a coincidence that I started to feel better after my coffee break and those last 3 miles were downhill.
