The fork isn't cut yet, and that is a seatpost collar just to hold it in place for the photo

I finally found a bike that can fit my 1" threaded carbon fork...woooooo! (it is a really short steerer tube for some tiny person) I won't be keeping the bike because it is for a friend and way too tiny but yeah I can use that part and make a pretty rad bike even better.

Went to install SRAM S300's on my cross bike and simply cannot get the factory chainring bolts out. They are stupid tight. Having them drilled out. Anyone else experience this?
EDIT: Apparently it's a thing. Searched and found an old PedalRoom thread and it's mentioned by @Scrodzilla and others.

Saying that effort is independent of the weight of the bike is like telling a weight lifter that his effort is independent of the amount of weight being lifted.
Pushing a heavier bike up a hill is no different from pushing a heavier stack of weights in the weight room. It takes more effort to move a heavier weight.
Another way to look at it is work. Moving more mass requires more work. Someone who rode a 30 lb bike up a hill did more work than someone who rode a 20 lb bike up the same hill.

Your analogy is faulty since you're ignoring wind resistance. A lighter bike properly geared can obviously go faster with the same human effort than a rider on an all-steel 3-speed bike can go over the same course.
My main work-out bike is an all-steel 3-speed bike, and I also use a wider tire up front for stability and safety, and my fastest speed is around 24 mph, w/ an average of 12 mph, which is fast enough in town.

Today I bought a Garmin Edge 20 GPS. Excited to compare the results of a dedicated cycling GPS to my Galaxy S8/Strava.

Went to the first track session of the new year. Hadn't been out there in probably a month or so, felt good to ride in circles again. Also, got a free cap and it's one that actually fits under my helmet.

Been one hell of a weekend. I got a new bike, and on the first day crashed pretty hard and had to go to the hospital to get my eyebrow stitched up.
The next day I started the Coast Ride
Day 1, 132 miles, 6024ft elevation. I missed a turn and added 5 miles to plotted course.
Day 2, 134 miles, 9163ft elevation. I've never cracked so hard on a climb before.
Day 3, 126 miles, 5387ft elevation. I sorta found my legs again. Held a consistently low wattage for a long time and the tailwind at the end helped a lot.
Before this, the last real ride I did was for the Festive 500, and I hadn't been riding much before that because I'm a lazy sack of ****.

Today work was canceled in Atlanta for 1.5" of snow. Rode the trainer for 20 min, and decided my mileage goal for the year is 2,400 mi. Last year my total was 1,405 miles.

FSA Gimondi. Nothing to write home about, but nothing wrong with it either. It has a nice retro look which is cool as well.

Went out for a 30mi ride, legs were still sore from track the other night but started feeling better about 45 minutes in. On the last hill on my way home, everything started grinding all of a sudden. Thought I busted my bottom bracket or something, but when I pulled over to check it out, it turned out I had somehow thrown the chain off the derailleur pulleys. Somehow. ****ing road bikes.
