Today, I am studying for a chem test that is super easy. I'm studying because I'm bored and can't sleep this early yet. What is life.

I registered for a short but brutal race on saturday. 40 miles of hills and god awful flinty gravel. Hoping for less then 1 flat. I really wish I had a tubeless setup. Its also going to be 30º at 8 am.... What do you wear to race in 30º weather?

Kansas is not flat.

40miles ain't that short... Most of my races are ~55min!

Also, Kansas IS flat, and 40mi of that crap looks horrible... Cross bike or mtb?

Ill be on my cross bike and yeah its gonna be brutal. This area is not flat by any means its 3 laps of a 16 mile loop. In the heart of the flint hills. see below....I took these images from a blog called adventuremonkey. The photos were from a ride put on by the same guy who is putting on this race. It is all based around the same small town. [/IMG]

Thats what im worried about, but I just checked the weather and it now says 44º at the start? 14 degrees warmer then it said Monday. Im thinking bib tights, jersey and arm warmers. I just never know about my feat, they are always the problem.

For socks use something like the DeFeet Blaze. This would be a good time to bust out the embrocation for the legs. I like the Mad Alchemy medium for winter cross races. Plus you smell like X-mas.

I've got the same setup except laced to an AC's 32H track hub. Those Archetypes are sharp looking, especially with black spokes & nipples.

Today I saw a bike rider blow through a red light at about 5 miles an hour. I watched as a Nissan Xterra had to slam on the brakes to avoid sending this guy to the afterlife. He didn't even look, wasn't even fazed, just proceeded to ride right through the intersection like nothing happened. I just sat there in disbelief. The guy was probably in his early 20's and didn't seem to be really with it. Almost hit me 2 blocks later, while he was on his phone.
