Yesterday I did this: https://www.strava.com/activities/100414787
Mountain biking, mostly on rocky terrain. Doing that kinda distance on a rigid single speed MTB proved to be more painful then I had ever imagined, my hands are still numb. Time to look for a geared bike with a suspension fork.

Nice. You're not too far away. Even though I really don't have any way of getting into Portland.

Today I rode to work even though many streets haven't been plowed/salted. I wiped out just a few blocks from home, busting the container of soup I was intending to eat for lunch. It was in a ziplock bag too, which only sustained a small hole and saved everything in my bag form being covered in homemade rosemary potato leek soup, but there goes my lunch. I also hit the ground hard enough for my brifter to get twisted inwards a bit on the handlebars and I can't seem to force it back straight.

Also my knee hurts.

Falling so early on in my ride had me feeling sketchy and nervous all the way in. Not fun. Ugh.

+1

All heckling aside, it's a great school, and it means that you're smart and (probably) cool if you got in. Congrats Sherblock.

My younger sister (also best friend) went to school there while I was studying at Humboldt State Univ in norcal. We're only 2yrs apart so we visited each other w friends a few times. Portland is pretty rad.

even though Davis sucks (geographically), you guys have a killer WCCC collegiate cycling team, as you have discovered.

also UCD is a good school too. what u study?

I'm studying electrical engineering and I don't regret coming to Davis, but Portland seems like such a cool place . Besides, if I hadn't come to Davis, chances are I wouldn't be biking at all.
