If you have shimano cranks, check your chainring bolts. They have a tendency of loosening and clicking. It's a t27

Checked them on the ride and they appeared to all be tight, and they're 5mm hex, so that's convenient. I'll investigate further when I clean the drive train today or tomorrow.

Today I taught my little bro how to do a little arc welding. Pretty good first try for a ten year old, he can compete with some of the people I went to trade school with.

Today I went for an easy cruise on my Steamroller. I name all my bikes but haven't come up with a good name for this one yet, so I've been using "Bikey McBikeface."

The terrain is flat as a pancake along this path, and the weather today was absolutely perfect. I did 29 miles in exactly two hours. Very relaxing.

That little guy approaching in the background went straight through my main triangle and continued down the path!

The grip, even with sweat, is fantastic.

Those Oury grips, on the other hand, awful without gloves. Gotta switch them out.

Yesterday I did 61 miles after being sick for most of September and not riding longer than 20 miles at once.

At least I got to drink a beer on top of mountain of trash tho.

Today I wasted a trip down to Chula Vista for a motorcycle (a ZZR600 for my beloved girlfriend) that had already been sold, but the stupid motorbike shop still had it up on their website. But the trip was saved because I got to:
~shake Scrodzilla's hand & admire his enviable Amish beard (dude, my eyes are up here...)
~pick up some sparklies for our project builds, and some sweet Look bottles for my Look Equippe Badgerbike from Retrogression
~eat some curry fries & oysters at Tiger!Tiger!
~check out the smooth, fresh-lain asphalt on the SD Velodrome
~have a beer at Hillcrest Brewery, and score this *****in' poster to freak out my Dad.

Oh yeah, and Scrod double-checked my spoke-length calculations and ordered the spokes for our wheels. Going to be sweet to have these fresh bikes all ready for the fresh track next month!

Every time we go down there it's like finding a twenty in the sofa cushions, but today was like finding a C-note. Even the traffic was light and polite.

Glad you had a great day down here in central SD @calamarichris. I'm a frequenter of the velodrome and Tiger Tiger! myself .

I'm from North County myself, and as a matter of fact, will be dog/house sitting for my parents in Vista on Friday night. I'll start my ride from there on Saturday morning as well - I plan on heading out at 6:30, rolling down the coast and hanging out on the SDBC "B" ride. I'm an "A" rider, but the race director wants us to ride the "B" ride for a couple months to mentor riders, teach riding and paceline skills, and scout new talent.

Happy trails, and see you at the velodrome next year! I'll be there most Tuesday nights.

Where are you at in North County, Monk? We're in Carlsbad, across the street from the Dove Library. Stuck doing family junk this weekend, but we're taking my cousin from Chicago for a ride along PCH on Sunday.

@calamarichris I live in Linda Vista/Clairemont - Mesa College area to be exact. I moved down here after college in 2011 to be close to all the Sci/Tech stuff down here. Currently working in Kearney Mesa.

I grew up in Vista, however, and my parents are there. Graduated from Rancho Buena Vista HS.

How long have you been in Carlsbad/SD???
