Rode 5 miles to the station and took the 45 min Bart ride into San Francisco to climb some hills and see my best friends new baby boy. It was worth it.

Built a wheelset for my friend's Fuji Feather. She should be trouble free for some time now.

Nothing special, stock hubs and Sun CR18 rims. She bough the bike used and it had these atrocious super deep rims, so she'll be cutting a lot of weight and adding style points with polished box rims.

Today I parked my fixed gear. Can't find new track nuts to fit the axle. Apparently the nuts are not 10mm diameter.

Today I was:
- verbally abused by a motorists who yelled "Why the hell don't you get a Peloton?" out his car window while passing.
- passed by a motorist who went into oncoming traffic just before the crest of a hill.
- passed by a motorist who went into oncoming traffic through an intersection while I signaled to make a left hand turn.
- rolled coal by a motorist who waited at the stop sign for me to catch up after I was super courteous to him, yielding the lane when I didn't have to, signal, etc.

I commuted 40 miles/day in New York and never had as much trouble as I did in suburban Atlanta tonight. Seriously, southern hospitality and politeness is a bunch of made up bull****.

sorry to hear that sir, I can get or make you nuts I’m sure... 10mm is only half the equation on threads. Also have you inspected the threads on the axle? If they look messed up in any way I might suggest finding the correct 10mm - pitch die to chase it with. Be careful though.

send me pics of the axle threads as well as the nuts if you have any questions, I should be able to tell right away based on images

Today I didn’t have a tool to install my new headset cups, so I quickly and crudely machined my own. Worked out great. I’m going to make a nicer version eventually.

Also! I’m in search of a rear wheel for my new build! Nothing crazy, but nothing heavy

Some days I really wish I had gone with machining rather than welding in trade school. A mill and lathe are on my wishlist, one day.

That one looks plenty nice to me, just get a couple of box wrenches on there (one being a ratchety one) and away you go

Peloton is a pretty big word for someone who yells out of their car at people.

Thanks for the offer! I went to a third shop at lunch, and found the nuts. They were 9.5mm x 26mm. The threads on the axle look pretty good.. Curious though, do you have a machine shop in your garage?

Which forks and for how much $$? I'll see what I can do. May not be able to buy right away, but I'll for sure keep you in mind until then. Up for trades at all?
I Direct messaged you, but the punctuation and spelling may get a little funky because my phone hates me when I try to type things.

Nice! Glad to hear you found the solution. Haha, something like that. I help my father run a machine shop.

I love it, it's a great trade. The grass is always greener as they say, I wish I could make nicer welds! hahahaha. They can be pricey... but invaluable!

Been nerding out on Youtube bike fit videos lately and made some fit adjustments to the road bike today, hoping to alleviate some hand and shoulder/neck discomfort I've been having. Turned the handlebar down a bit and moved the shifters up a pretty substantial amount. Effectively reduced the reach by over 1cm and put the hoods in a more ergonomic position. I'll take it out for a ride tomorrow to see how it feels on the road.

Cutting the steer tube is on my to-do list.

Today I found a set of h plus son wheels laced to polished phil hubs (single-sided threading) plus tires (Hutchinson Fusion) and a 17t cog/lockring for $300 on Craigslist. Seems too good to be true. Owner claims there are less than 50 miles on the wheels too. Is this a really good set of wheels, or are the Wabi sub 15's better?

If the wheels are real and not stolen, then they are an excellent set of wheels. Phil Wood makes some of the best hubs on the market. Top quality, easily serviced and great bearings. They aren't light though which is frequently why people get rid of them because they want super light vs super looks which is fair but nothing and I do mean nothing is going to beat a silver hub with that red script Phil logo on it (well maybe a deep purple or black is good if it is gloss) H+Son makes an excellent rim and I am using 6 of their rims right now and they are excellent. The tires and stuff are a cool addition but nothing I spec on my stuff though nothing against Hutchinson.

$300 would be a heck of deal again if they are real and not stolen and either in true or not badly out of true and using decent spokes (Sapim, DT Swiss, Wheelsmith or Phil Wood).
