Oh no ****, didn't know that you spent time in SD. I grew up in Vista/San Marcos area of N County. Great riding! I'm going to be doing the San Diego Mountain Biking Assoc. "Archipelago" luau-themed bike ride in a few weekends with some buddies. They manage to cram 50 miles of trail between San Elijo Hills (San Marcos) and Green Flash Brewing in Mira Mesa, hitting most major open spaces in N and Central County. Plastic lei's, tiki socks and all.

If the weather holds I'll be heading to the track for more madison practice/training. The guys on TV make it looks so smooth, but it's pretty unnerving getting all the mechanics of the exchanges right, especially when you're bleeding out of your eyeballs from the sustained speed.

Can imagine what kind of wipeouts the madison must produce.

Yeah I was born in L.A., the west coast just feels like home. Nothing beats a sunset on the beach. Have lived in NOLA more than anyplace else though.

You need to be pre-approved to race the madison by the Elders of the SDVA, and for good reason. You do that by showing up to these practices and then getting yelled at repeatedly, and eventually their blessing. As with anything else, respectfulness, courtesy and a safety-first attitude go a long way.

NOLA is a great town, visited a few years back when the lady was out for a work conference. Really dug Frenchman street and all the live jazz going on and whatnot.

Today I came back to bike forums after not being here for a couple weeks. Did a 20 mi ride with a 14.5% climb this week. Fun times!

I saw on Strava that you did Double Branches "The Wall." That's a damn hill right there. Well done!

Today I rode fixed gear - 110 miles @ 17.7 MPH.

Went out for a ~30 mile ride, got a flat in the first 15 minutes, but good times otherwise. Might be time to replace that tire...

I rode today. Last day of vacation. Saw more deer than cyclists, that's a first. I felt a lot better at the end than I did a few weeks ago riding the same route.

Today I feel half normal after the weekend's 400K brevet. Bonked hard for the last two hours but managed to finish in decent time.

Today I introduced my kids to April Fool's Day, in the form of ice cream-mayonnaise sundaes.

I'd better watch out next year.

Bike commute home in a bit (10 mi), then driving down to the track for Thursday night hand-holding practice (Madison workout)

Went for a 30ish mile ride, stopped by the bike shop to inquire about ordering a Big Block frame. Turns out it might be tougher than I thought to get one in my size, so we'll see.

Today a friend shared this to me:

Either somebody stumbled on a streetcred goldmine or hoarded the entire size-range at some point in time!

And for those interested in acquiring one of these SS/FG classics: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik...843318790.html (not affiliated with seller!)

I don't know why people trying to sell bikes post so many photos of the logos, stickers and decals.

The two photos of the track ends are the only useful detailed shots in the whole post.

I've always admired how little effort went into graphic design on that frame.

Today I cleaned and re-wrapped my bars. It was a good reminder that I should do it way more often (like yearly), rather than trying to make the old tape last as long as possible.

I'll spare you pics of the bare aluminum...

I've always wanted to pay through the nose for the privilege of threading my modern compact drop bar through a quill stem clamp, and also spending a small fortune to tinker with fit.
