Hey all.

I've been looking to get into the single speed/fixed fear scene for a while now, and I just purchased my first bike.
It's a 41 cm Retrospec with 700 wheels. Upon first sitting on it, it felt right. I'm 5'2" by the way. I seemed intimidated by the bigger bikes at first.

However, after riding about 16 miles with it, my lower back started to feel uncomfortable. By arms also have the urge to be higher.

I am beginning to think I might need something larger. However, the bikes sales people first wanted to direct me to a 43 cm SE Draft with 650 wheels but it looked way too small. I got the 41 cm with 700 wheels.

Would it be too much to ask them if I need a bigger bike?

Merely a given height ≠ frame size. Personal measurements compared with geo charts is how you fit a bike, at least on paper. Companies geos and sizing all vary, as do people's proportions and levels of flexibility.

My girlfriend is 4'11" and rides the "44cm" Kilo TT with the 50.3cm toptube. One of the other options we looked at was the "43cm" Windsor Clockwork, but it had a much longer toptube at 51.9cm. We also looked at the "43cm" Fuji Track Classic with the 650c wheels. It had an effective 50cm toptube, but because the geometry was so wonky, the effective reach was actually longer than the corresponding "49cm" frame with the full 700c wheels.

She isn't able to cleanly standover her bike and must tilt it at a stop. It doesn't bother her. Bikes are meant to be ridden, not stood over.

hmm so I have a 41 cm Retrospec in my possession with the regular 700c wheels. It seems comfortable at first, but now I'm doubting it...

I am used to beach cruisers and mtn. bikes, so gauged my choice off past experiences. When I sit on the saddle, it's only my toes that can reach the ground.

Your toes shouldn't even be able to touch the ground while seated on the saddle.

Well... looks like I'm going to have to talk to them.
