Converting fixie to 2 speed
1 Attachment(s)
Hi. I bought Felt Brougham Whiteout to my girlfriend but we found out that fixie is not her thing. Now, we bought Sturmey Archer S2 kickshift hub gear, and now I have few questions . Can I fit mavic A319 http://www.mavic.com/en/product/rims...lon/rims/A-319 rim in my frame and what would be maximum tire width (thinking about 32 or 35 c even, originally is 28c)for my frame and brakes?
Didnt take photos but found some on the net http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=316539 |
I can't answer your question but do like the concept of those hubs. Could you keep us posted on how they go please?
|
Maybe. Not near enough info in the questions to get an answer.
S2 hubs come in different versions (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...Archer%20S2%20). Which one do you have?? Start with spoke hole count, does the rim even come with the same number of holes as the hub you bought??? None of the photos you attached show the tire going through the seat stay at the top. That's where the" problem would show up. But, you have the bike......a measurement would let you know how much room you have and how much more tire would fit. Tire sizes are not exact. Not all 35s are 35mm. |
Ill do the measurement today. I bought freehub without brakes, 32h and rim will have 32 h as well. I'm almost 100% that 32c would fit, not shure for 35. Will post more photos today

As far as I knew the S2 Duomatic and the Sram Automatix only come in 36h, I have a S2 and its great, takes some time to adjust to shifting down when you stop and not kicking back while stopped but it comes in time

Whitout brake is 32h, whit brake is 36h ;)

So far as the S2 Duomatic goes, the OP did not write the word "Duomatic" in his post. He wrote exactly "Sturmey Archer S2 kickshift hub gear", nothing more, nothing less. How about a thirty-two hole in black********************???: http://www.amazon.com/Sturmey-Archer...ds=S2+Duomatic Bye, bye.:giver: |

32H is new.... buy a couple of cogs (up and down from what you think you need) and 2-3 snap rings unless you have snap ring pliers...removing the ring with anything else will destroy it |

Guys, didn't ask about hub, I know which hub I have, I'm asking about tire size :) Here are 2 photos with 700 x 28c on it http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=316912http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=316913

28c Rando's are small for a 28c tire, much smaller than other tires of the same size, I believe they use the 25c casing. I would buy another brands 28c and test that one front and rear before you try a 32c
