Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Building a fix/free and need guidance

A couple years back I decided I was going to covert my '74-75 Fuji Special tourer to a fixed speed. I never got past whether I wanted a fix/free set up or a coaster. I've finally moved a long. So that being said, I'm going from 27 to 700c 32c's, 10 speeds to a fix/free set up. Now what I need help with is replacing the bottom bracket. The shimano UN-55 68mm should work, only I don't know what spindle length to use. The rear hub I am getting is a Dimension d22 fix/free 120mm spacing. Should I order the bottom bracket after I set the wheel set in the frame and get a measure? Or is there a proper approach I am unaware of, being a novice bicycle mechanic (I'm a professional Diesel mechanic...close enough? Probably not) I could use all of the help I can get from resources and member knowledge, thanks ladies and gents!

I know I will have more questions the further I progress with my project and I plan to keep picture updates for anyone interested.

The crankset will determine the BB spindle length.
