This Serotta Atlanta frame was bought as a "project" from my local bike rescue for just $200.00 The BB was siezed in place, and an allen key was welded to the BB spindle in an attemt to work it free. Never happened!

The previous attemps by others to free it all left a few hacksaw cuts in the BB shell, but the new BB lock ring covers those nicely. There is a little paint discoloration on the bottom of the BB shell from the heat of the previous welding, but it's underneath so no biggie.

A nice plus is an almost perfect set of Campagnolo duel pivot brakes were included in my buy price of $200.00 The rest of the parts i had laying around from ebay used purchases, except for a new set of tires and tubes.

I spent 6-7 hours on it grinding the entire bottom bracket out from the center until just the threads.

A few pics of the work:

This is how i recieved the frame,...Urgh! The sections of the stuck BB that were cut off also done by previous attemps of others. I decided to work from the center out.

Someone even tried a drill near the threads, but cut into them in a few spots. Works fine now though.

And FINALLY clear! NO GREASE present, of course! Got rid of most all the surface rust and added some light grease to protect it.

Front Brake. (rear brake same groupo) Dura Ace Headset also included.

Looks pretty good now and climbs like a champ!

Cobra track bike sizing?

Does anyone have a sizing chart for Cobra track bikes? Tube lengths and frame angles?

If you're asking about the Euro-Asia Imports Cobra carbon track frameset, your best bet would be to contact EAI directly.

As much as I hate zombie threads and as much as the question asked had nothing to do with the topic of the thread at all in any sense of anything. It was a pleasure to see some old beaters and I for one would love to see this rejuvenated. Granted I don't have any SS/FG beaters but maybe one day.

Well, since I posted my OP, my “beater” has morphed into this:

https://m.imgur.com/4pKKjkA

So, I no longer own any bikes that qualify as true beaters.

Isn’t this a re-post? Not a fan of the matchy-match colors, but it looks like you did a nice job!

This thing got stolen from me about a year ago. 2003 KHS flite 100. The bike is just as crappy as the photo is. Loved this thing! and miss it. I left it at work and would use it for quick trips to grab lunch or run short errands

edit: that blue bike up there is my MTB. My favorite bike!

'79 Raleigh/Carlton Competition GS. Brought it home cheap, beat to hell with a wicked-stuck stem. Brake levers and headset are original, the rest is parts bin or co-op. More rust than is apparent here. Original stem was harmed in the making of this daily commuter.

I really like that bike.
One of my wishlist items is an older nicer quality Raleigh to make a sport tourer out of (like a clubman). I could buy one for $ on CL but part of the thrill for me is finding a diamond in the rough and rehabing it.

I really like your bike as well! Classy and timeless. Just gonna say it cuz someone else will eventually... that chain slack! Hahaha, I’m sure it’s totally fine and rideable though.

I like what I see! What gear ratio are you running? Maybe post a photo of the entire bike? My stolen bike just came back to me with a 105 front hub. Seems decent enough for a low-ish end hub, rolls decent... I’ll probly use it on my new beater build

Here it is with my everyday commuter bike (older Specialized Langster). I picked up the Nishiki for $10 and have gradually thrown spar parts at it. It now has a sealed BB cartrage, Kenda Small Block 8 tires, some alloy 700c rims (was a 27" bike) off a Giant hybrid. The bars are off a Schwinn MTB and the stem is off of a Carabela. The gear ratio is 39x17 with 700*35c tires - so whatever Sheldon says that works out to; I don't own a slide rule! The gear ratio is pretty small but that's on purpose: this is the bike I use for tooling around the neighborhood and occasional shortcut trail with my kids on their BMX bikes. I would love to do an identical build on a triple butted Bridgestone, Panasonic or Miyata frame but those are hard to come by.

I have to admit, I am actually posting in the wrong place as neither of these are FG, both are FW. Sorry for that!

I love your Raleigh! That's awesome!
