Masi Fixed Riser 2013- thoughts anyone?

I'm thinking of buying this as a commuter/general transportation bike and I was wondering if anyone had any reviews or thoughts on the bike.

Way overpriced for what it is. For the same price you can get a customized Wabi Classic, which is a much better quality bike and better geometry for use as a commuter.

Is there any other bike that would be a suitible substitute that would be easy to find not online?

So, I gather you want to buy from a LBS ? If so, why don't you list what is available locally, and maybe we can provide some useful input.

Most fuji's and masi's, not many other options for complete fixed gears.

Also Khs flite 100(also was thinking of getting this)

Same bike as Kilo TT from BikesDirect. Tighter track geometry, so maybe not as good a choice for commuting/transportation as the Masi. Also comes with track drops w/o hoods rather than risers, which is less comfortable. I think the Masi has sealed bearing hubs, which are maintenance free, whereas the KHS Flite 100 does not.

And there's the Kilo TT again....
Now I'm wishing I got the Purple one instead of a Fuji/Windsor.

Anothing thing is to consider is tire width. For urban general use you want wider, fatter tires. The KHS Flite 100 comes with skinny 23mm wide tires (700x23c), whereas the Masi comes with much wider 28mm (700x28c) tires. All of my urban useage bikes have 28mm or wider tires on them. Far fewer flat tires on rough and glass covered urban roads.

Ok thanks

You could get the Soma Rush or the Surly Steamroller.

Wouldn't both be a lot more?

I have a 2011 uno/fixed Masi frame that I built up. It works pretty well for what it is. There is probably slightly better options out there for the same price online, but if you are only choosing between Fuji and Masi stock bikes, get whatever feels right. Both are decent options, and might even be made in the same factory for all we know.
