We live in Miami and our selection on CL is full of resellers and crap so i dont think ill have much luck with finding a deal there.

I went to our local bike store today and he basically had nothing under $500

since we are new and are just going to be riding for fun/exercise we dont want to spend more than $300. I thought about the Kilo TT but i just cant afford the extra $100 bucks right now

bikesdirect is pretty much the best when you're on a budget. id spring for the kilos. i never owned one, but my old roommate had one for about 5 years before he upgraded. no problems.

yea i know im in a bind based on her size. We got her on a small framed bike today and the shop owner said she would need an extra small. Im going to properly measure her now to make sure she is 43 before purchasing.

yea im kind of OCD when it comes to making purchases. I'm in medicine so i guess its just forcive habit to look into everything i buy before pulling the trigger. I have yet to get burned on a large purchase so i guess im doing something right. Forums like this one have saved me big time in the past.

Ive been researching for a couple weeks and finally tried to the LBS and was just disappointed in the price for the options he had. We just cant afford 600 for something we are just getting involved in.

I know these bikes are the best out there but for beginners like us i think we cant go wrong. I think this especially rings true for our lack of local options via CL due to the insane amount of resellers and overpriced garbage in South Florida

You want a bike with a 50-51cm top tube. If that matches generally everything else will follow suit unless you're real weird looking.

those are the 3 different fits for your gf.

a 43cm bike has a seat tube length of 43cm. sometimes measured to the top of the tube(c-t) sometimes to the center(c-c)

some think top tube length is more important.

doing them now. but this puts her right at the sweet spot for 43cm according the measurements 49cm would be too big for her

according to this. that puts the top tube length right around her size. no?

Post her measurements too. Based on the sizing recommendations I think something is off with the measurements. It's recommending a really short stem, and it usually tries to put you on a 100-120mm.

everything on my end points to a 58cm my inseam was 32"

They look alright. You might have to change the stem on the 43cm. I don't know what they spec it with, but she's gonna want a 70 or 80mm.
She's is also going to have standover issues too, but it's a bike. Meant for riding, not standing over.

What size wheels does a 43cm Windsor have? On a bike so small you should seriously consider getting something that comes with 650c wheels. Fuji & SE Bikes offer some fairly low-priced models that have smaller wheels in your GF's size.

I am certainly no expert on fit or fixies in general but I think a bike like this 42cm frame from Wabi with 650c wheels would fit her perfect. 697mm is a 27.5in standover and the TT comes in right in her sweetspot.

I know this is way out of her price range. Anybody make more reasonably priced fixies with 650c wheels?

Edit: I found a Fuji Track classic 43cm with 650c wheels that looks like it has a comparable standover and TT length for a little less but still too much. If I were you I would look for one of either of these bikes on the used market. Maybe there are others out there lower priced. Good Luck!

yea my area is **** on the used market. Let alone a pretty hard to find bike.

I guess i can call BD and figure out if they put 700cc on the 45cm. Would that make sense on such a small bike?

The reason I suggest a 650c wheel is that the standover is going to be too high on almost any 700c wheel bike. The 43cm Windsor from bike direct has a standover that is over .5in higher than her inseam. IMO that could cause some painful problems when she puts her feet on the ground.

Finding bicycles will be difficult. geared, you have Terry Bikes, single speed you have not much. Might be able to find kids bikes that fit her? but the quality probably won't be good.
