What!?

I don't get product tattoos... Like that dude on the Campy only site. Who thinks it's cool to pay to get some product permanently marked on their body?

fixedfiend 02-25-05 11:19 PM

That looks alot like my boy, Eric's bike. Definitely not his feet and not silly enough to do it.

OneTinSloth 02-26-05 12:18 AM

i don't know muskegon, but i doubt it's much different from freeport, IL (where i grew up).

stinkyonions 02-26-05 04:51 AM

since we are on the topic of tattoos, i ran across this website last week. the things people have done to their bodies.

Hanzi Smatter (Dedicated to the misuse of Chinese characters (Hanzi or Kanji) in Western culture)

^^^^^ tattoo pics galore!

gally99 02-26-05 05:00 AM

it looks a lot like my rossin...
incidently, i've been considering getting the rossin "R" tattooed on my neck...
i seem to enjoy tattoos that piss other people off though...

ink1373 02-26-05 06:41 AM

anyone else notice that that bike in the picture up there has a chain made entirely of half-links?

wonder how well that works.

Thats the Shadow Conspiracy interlock chain. I'm thinking of getting one for my bmx conversion. Do you think a Campagnolo Gran Sport Strada crankset would be offended by that chain? Not that it really matters since its going to be living on a bmx monstrosity anyways!

jeff williams 02-26-05 03:47 PM

I'm indelibly marked...it might be the posters tat' so i'll keep the cake hole shut.
I just wonder how often you stand with your feet together.

I heard way back when....of a Skinhead who did a tattoo of the word 'Skins' on his forehead using a mirror.
He screwed up and wrote 'snikS' instead. :roflmao:

Super Rookie 02-26-05 04:21 PM

Is that picture of the bike from the Stupor Bowl? It looks like Nicollet mall in mpls....

personally I think that tatoo is pretty ****ing dope. i got my track bike on my calf from a dude named Painless Jimmy in south florida last year. The dude is a little older and was so impressed that I was getting a track bike that he showed me his own bike in the back of the shop. it wasn't a motorcycle it was a classic Mercx track bike! Booya! It was awesome meeting a dude that rode a track bike in south florida!

I am going to go in the spring and get another tatoo from him. I don't got the balls for having it on the top of the feet though.....

What's the purpose of a chain like that? Is it stronger?

it is supposedly stronger, where impacts are concerned. it's a BMX chain, designed to be able to take the abuse of sprocket stalls and grinds and such...but the main function of the half-link chains is to allow for maximum adjustablility. now, one might ask, "what purpose does this serve for BMX? they are children's toys, they're nowhere near as sophisticated as "adult bikes." well, to those people i say this: you have nooooo idea how much time and effort goes into dialing in a BMX bike so that it's perfect, and to some people (like me), the 1/4" of adjustability for effective rear end length is important.

i had my bike's rear end dialed so perfect, then i got a new chain and discovered that the one i had been running was stretched roughly one full tooth over the whole length of the chain, effectively giving me a half-link. boy, was i sad when i ste up my bike again and tried to manual....

i need to ride that bike more often...

icithecat 02-26-05 10:38 PM

Is it stronger? No. Just cooler.

it depends on what you mean by stronger. it'll most definitely stretch the same as a normal chain, but it'll handle direct impacts better...or so the marketing hype says. i believe it though...

Shiznaz 02-26-05 10:59 PM

Shadow claims that the pins are 5 times stronger than regular 1/8 chains and that the chain is twice as strong overall. I suppose they performed rigorous scientific tests to determine this, but they don't say which chains they tested against making the test completely flawed... not that it matters since I'm sold on them already.

Bike guys aren't the only ones.... A friend was at a party and took this pic.

I've got all the company logos from my entire stock portfolio tattooed on my back.

it doesn't make the tests flawed, it makes their touting of the results of the tests a bit suspect...
