Looking for some honest opinions
I finished my first FGB build a little over a year ago and have definitely been hooked since. It's a 722TS that I got on clearance from Citygrounds and it has become my daily driver, replacing my geared road bike. I've recently started considering getting another bike to build up as more of a comfort/errand bike. I found a good deal on a Surly Steamroller on my local CL. It's a complete bike with some upgraded parts (Chris King headset, Thomson stem & seat post, etc...) and I've managed to talk the guy down to $550. My question isn't so much whether it's a good price for the bike, more of whether it makes sense to get a second bike in the first place. My plan would be to put wider tires on the Steamroller, outfit it with a front basket, and maybe some clip-on fenders. It would be my go-to bike if I'm going to the store or out for a leisurely ride with my wife, while my 722TS would be for when I'm riding for fun or trying to get from one place to another more quickly and without the need to carry a lot.
I know nobody can make the decision for me, but at the same time I respect the opinion of most of you and would love to hear what you guys would do if you were in my situation. Also, and I know this may be a fruitless request, but please try and keep the responses mature and productive. Thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who replies.
