Trying to achieve this, please help! (Thick tires)

Hello, I currently have a windors the hour I got from bikesdirect. It's been good two years riding around campus, but i've had multiple encounters with popped tires and i've had it enough with it.

I want to get much thicker tires and achieve this setup:

Thick tires is the main goal here. Can anyone direct me to the right place?

This is the description of the windsor hour's fork and tires:
Fork: "Windsor StraightBlade Custom Drawn Triple Butted and Tapered 4130 Cromoly Track
Drilled for road brake, 1.125 inch steerer"
Wheels: "Kenda K191 700x23c or 700x28c"

Do i need to get a new fork to fit those tires? Thanks so much for reading!

You need to figure out what size tires you're currently running and gauge how much extra clearance you have. Pics would help. However, I am gonna go out on a limb and assume that you won't be able to go that fat on your frame. Get some tires with good puncture resistance and keep them inflated properly.

thanks seau,

i currently don't have the bike with me, but do you know what kind of fork that is? and where i can easily swap that fork to my fork without and problems?
i'm pretty sure im running 700c x 23

Probably something like a Volume Fu Manchu. It's going to cost you more money than it's worth. Just buy good tires in the widest size that your current setup will accommodate.

Do you mean thicker as in inside to outside, or thicker as in wider width.

I think you might be best served if you replace your search for "thicker" tires with a search for "better" tires.

After all, how good of tires do you think were installed on a $300 bike. Hell, you wouldn't have bought it if they had to include the price of a decent set of tires.

just get some 700x28 gatorskins. Problem solved

Thanks for all the advice guys!

yeah I guess I can just get new tires rather than change the whole set up.

I'm just really fond of that bike set up. it reminds me of a bmx.

Does anyone know what those bikes are called? maybe i can find one around craigslist of ebay.

I need to replace my back rim as well, so if anyone knows any nice quality single gear back tires that won't run me too much please help!

They are called Fixed gear free style. There is a whole forum dedicated to them.

You can change your handlebars to risers too if you want that look.

Plenty of good puncture resistant road tires out there. Panaracer Ribmo is a great value.

The tires on the bike you posted are not necessarily thicker but wider and can be ridden on at a significantly lower pressure which bring along many benefits for such a bike (FSFG) with those tires while used for tricks...
Your windsor the hour will not be able to run such sized tires as pictured whatsoever.

If you want a "thicker" tire aka more thread material try Soma's Everwear tires. The only set back is the sheer amount of mass/ rubber on the thread although gives near impenetrable protection makes the tire weigh more and have less worse cornering.

thanks everyone! i'll look into all the tires mentioned above!
