I picked up a Schwinn Le Tour frame (Has fork and BB). I have converted a couple mountain bikes to single speed but this is a road bike and I'd like coaster brakes. Ill need new wheels regardless so if anyone can't point me to a wheelset for a coaster brake set up I'd appreciate it, thanks.
Edit: ill still have a front brake

What does that wheelset have to do with either single speed or coaster brakes?

Good question, correct me if I'm wrong. You read the title to this thread?

The coaster brake is actually a specific type of wheel hub that allows freewheeling and braking. What you linked to was not that. You'll want something like this...

It says the set on there is sold out (hence my link to a single rear wheel). I'm sure you can contact them for more info, or find a similar product elsewhere.

Thanks for the info...I'm curious if its any more of a hassle to just get an extra brake vs going coaster. Since I have to buy wheels no matter what. Also, I want to get rims that can take a more meaty tire.

Yes, I did.

Did you do ANY research on your own, or do you expect everything to be spoon fed to you?

What kind of riding do you intend on doing with the bike? Telling us how you intend on using it can greatly help in the suggestive process.

OP, do you know what "fixed-gear" means? It seems like you have some confusion.

I plan to ride from gravel to paved road, maybe some dirt roads out in the farming areas.

I wasn't trying to be a know-it-all. It was a sincere question. You put "first fixed" as the title, which suggested that you were getting your first fixed-gear bike. Great. I love them. Then your post talks about a coaster brake. These two things are incompatible, which is why I asked. It may be that you don't want a coaster brake at all but really want to have a fixed-gear bike, but we can't tell.

Maybe you should read this.

Ok cool my bad! I don't get by idiots join up on social forums like this and immediately go into defense mode with a reply. I am cluesless obviously but if I'm in the wrong area just tell me and I'll move on.
