Which lockring?

Hello everyone, my first post here!

I've recently got an SS/fixie with flip-flop hub from craigslist, and it came without any track cog and/or lockring, so looking for a proper lockring now. I understand that the lockring has to be an exact match for the hub, since wrong threaded lockrings can thread on, but will unthread and/or strip the threads by themselves with time. Unfortunately the hub doesn't seem to have any markings, so it's impossible to look up. So far I've only tried an English/ISO lockring (1.29" x 24 TPI) and it seemed to thread on nicely. So here's the question: given that Campy/Phil wood/Italian and the rare old French standards have higher diameter (1.32" and 33mm which is roughly 1.30"), does it mean my hub is ISO? Has anyone ever tried ISO lockrings on an Italian or French hub - do they thread on at all?

What's the problem here ? The lockring fits, and your hub is not Campy or Phil, so it's all good.

"Guys, my setup seems to work 100% perfectly. What's wrong with it?"

No.

A French-threaded lockring will technically thread on but it won't feel right and will damage the hub threads.

You need a lockring for a boy's bike. Different than one for a girl's bike. Doesn't matter Italian or French. Although, some of the French ones tend go get a bit weird.

My situation is the other way around - unknown (unlikely, but still possibly French threaded) hub and ISO lockring.

My crystal ball has been on the fritz since last Tuesday. How about posting a good pic of your hub?

It's a Formula, which are English-threaded.

It's a modern Formula hub from Taiwan. It'll work just fine.

Awesome, thanks!

No.

I have a pair of Maillard (French) track hubs, duplex rear (fixed-fixed). It accepts ISO cogs and lockrings on both sides (Dura-Ace for example). They spin on by hand with no extra effort. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like you need new hubs.

Yes, Scrod sent it with the frame along with the headset which is also girl's bike specific.
