Brakes - tell me why...

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I think Angie would rather watch me get eaten by an alligator than shave my beard. We've been together for nearly 8 years and she's never seen my chin.

I'm 34, rarely more than stubble-faced,unmarried (haven't even been on a date in a looong time), and I have front+rear brakes. I like being able to stop fast, and I'm a weenie.

When I was young and silly, I had a long ponytail and a full beard. Now that I'm old and crackers, I've got a hairy bit around my bald bonce and am sort of clean shaven when I remember to make the effort. I too use two brakes, and my siamese doesn't care a bit.

My wife prefers me to be clean shaven, she likes the rugged look but does not like the way it feels against her soft and silky skin.

My beloved doesn't mind the scratchy feel of a weekend growth. My daughter complains (as daughters do). My bikes don't really care because I'm so uncool and unfashionable anything that hides my identity has to be an improvement.

Me too.

As soon as I get a big boy job, I might change my fashion. But, if I had to, I probably wouldn't apply for the job.

Having a third eyebrow on your chin is hardly a beard.

You're wife and my gf are of the same mind. Caitlin actively encourages me to grow my beard out more; to the point where she will send me photos/articles from beard and mustache competitions telling me I have work to do.
