H PLUS SON TB14 rims?

Anyone running these? What's the verdict? They look light, strong, classic profile...just what I'm looking for.

The last thing I'd call them is "light".

They're great looking rims though.

Good call.

They're moderately light for a box section rim. There's better if you're willing to compromise the refined looks of TB14's.
That being said, the pros way outweigh the cons imo, not to mention the H+N valve opening faceplate is way classy.

Which is precisely why 290g for a 23mm box section rim isn't heavy.

Relative to other 23mm rims, the TB14 is actually heavy. +30g heavier than their own Archetype offering and +50g more than an A23. The Kinlin XC279 is twice as deep and still lighter. One can argue you can save weight by using a narrower box section Open Pro, well not compared to the Pacenti SL23 which is 26mm deep, 24mm wide while weighing essentially the same. Wider stance, more aero at no weight penalty. **** an Open Pro.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I will never care about my rims being 30g "heavier" than something else. The ****ing eyelets and nameplate on TB14s probably weigh close to that, if not more. Not a big deal.

I just had a wheelset built up with these. I chose them because they resembled Araya 16B's, and I figured the width would possibly be a benefit. I haven't had a chance to put too many miles on them yet, but they seem to ride pretty nicely.

Here's a pic:

Does anyone know how these would stand up on a commuter? I currently have a stock Alex wheelset similar to Velocity Deep Vs on my commuter and they seem to be pretty strong, but I'm curious how a box-style rim would compare to a deeper wheelset in strength and keeping true on roads that can be a bit rough.

I run the tb14 formula wheel set from velomine and they are rock solid, i commute daily on them on ****ty Vegas streets.

You will be pleased with them, looks and reliability without weighing a ton.

haha i made a thread asking the same question as you a month ago, i decided to get them on velomine, laced with phil woods, love them, smooth as butter, downside is the weight but its not a big deal, maybe cause my steel frame is a bit heavy but i dont care

Any idea of how big you can run tires on the TB14s? I don't know much about box rims and I'm thinking about using them on a new build. Maybe jeremy8mn and GENESTARWIND can comment on this one.

Probably limited by your bike frame more than the rim. Just a guess, no idea what you're riding.
