Can you identify this saddle?
 

Says BG on it in a few spots and has the specialized s logo on the bottom but other than that i have not a clue. Was hoping someone here might know.
Im not sure if its a road or mtb saddle either, its what was on my centurion that i currently use and its fairly comfy except its kind of slippery...just wanted to find out some info on it. thanks.

How old do you reckon it is and what's it covered with?

Specialized Body Geometry of some sort. It looks similar to one that came on a friend's Specialized FSR dual suspension mountain bike from the late 1990s/early 2000s. Does it have blue-ish hue? The turned down nose generally is for mountain bike use, as it allows you to slide forward toward the nose when climbing.

europa - my guess is its like he said an early nineties as it came on my centurion elite rs and its a mid to late 80's bike. i say this because it looks like just about everything on the centurion is stock except for saddle and bottle holders. My reasoning is at some point someone threw on a new saddle sometime down the line during its use.

phil - No blue coloring but it looks well worn. it looks as if the two rear logos had white in them and on the front of the nose to the right near the top had some sort of red colored logo that is almost completely worn off.

would it be better asking for this to be moved to the mtb section? Im curious because except it for being kind of slippery which im assuming because of how worn it is. the saddle is quite comfortable. no pains at all on this.

Specialized Rival ?!?!

I'd bet that it's much later than early '90s and Rival is a good guess but Specialized has been putting out "enty-level" Body Geometry MTB saddles comparable to GENESTARWIND'S for years, with varying stitching and padding configurations that all look quite a bit alike. You might check it against Sonoma, Format, Indie, the list is practically endless. Not to mention their OEM saddles that didn't really have names. In fact to this day Specy still puts similar saddles on their lower end Hardrocks and Rockhoppers that they name after the bike model.

If you actually want to replace it with something close, just go to a Specialized dealer & look in their take-off box. Those things quite often get swapped out immediately for nicer seats...

basically i want this saddle but slightly flatter and with more texture to prevent slipping around aka old ass saddle worn down ect.

I have loved every BG saddle that I have ever tried.

I saw where TT had mentioned the Charge Spoon in several posts. For $28 I thought I give one a try. It's great for the 5-10 mile geared grocery bike, probably alright for further but I haven't tried it further myself.

Haha that's like the go to stock saddle for big S. Honestly had no idea they actually had a name for it.
