yeah, i (black mercier track bike) was right behind naz when he went down. it was pretty ugly at the time but i'm glad to hear that he will be ok. i think a helmet would have saved some gashes from his forehead and probably have kept him from getting as disoriented as he was. it was a little spooky to see something that nasty happen so randomly -- not burning a red, not swerving through traffic, etc. i'm glad he's ok.

i didn't know about the wreck until after i came into the finish (went a different route) and heard 2 guys talking about it. Then Josh told me who it was and I freaked out. I totally remembered once waking up in an ER not knowing what happened & they told me they couldn't find anyone to contact. That's kinda why I was so freaked about getting to Northwestern & calling his friends 'cause I realized I was probably the only person that could. Thankfully Josh was there helping keep everying together. I think I'm going to tape my emergency info on my helmet (maybe on the outside in 48pt font)

It was a checkpoint style with riddles at each checkpoint to figure out where the next point was. Good idea in theory. The first checkpoint was reached with no snafu's, however upon reading the riddle, our once cohesive riding pack split in every direction and some ended up going the right way and a lot went the wrong way. I'm not sure how many people actually went to the correct 2nd checkpoint, but I was not one of them. After getting way lost we called the help line and they told us where the third checkpoint was. So a five checkpoint race turned into a bunch of people getting lost and the race being called early.
