Bike Shops in SF and LA

I'll be visiting Los Angeles and San Francisco in a few days and I'd like to visit some bike shops, so if you guys can recommend me some good shops, preferably some that stock Single Speed stuff it'd be awesome. I'll have more free time to check shops out while in SF so that's a preferable place. Thanks in advance.

Golden Saddle in LA is pretty cool.

My honorable mentions:

MASH transit & box dog & American & Valencia & Freewheel in SF

Manifesto & Montano Velo in Oakland

Missing Link in Berkeley

Orange 20 and LAbrakeless in addition. Then you can visit the co-ops in the evening when we open shop, more fun anyway.

Thanks for the recommendations. I did not get a chance to visit the LA shops, I arrived in SF last night and got to walk around a bit today, visited Box Dog Bikes and Mission Workshop. Loving it so far, so many people riding bikes everywhere it's nothing like where I live.

If you can I'd listen to Leuky and visit Montano Velo in Oakland on Piedmont. Excellent shop.

I visited Mission, Box Dog, and MASH when I was in SF -- all in basically the same area, easy to walk between them.

MASH was closed monday but I did visit it yesterday. But just walking around and seeing all the bikes go by is awesome already.

If you're willing to go to towards the east bay area, Area Cycles in Castro Valley is the best shop for me, and it's the only shop I go to and I live 20 minutes away. The owner is hella laid back and they have a good assortment of parts for a small shop.

No kidding -- I was out there from Seacoast NH area, where it is currently way cold and icy, not many bikes on the street through winter. I visit SF, temps in the 50s, and there are bieks everywhere! It's not just the shops, it's bikes rolling on the streets and nearly any/every bike rack, too.

I need to move to some kind of bike mecca...

The trip is over I'm at LAX waiting for my flight. Loved California and I envy everyone that lives here. I'll definitely have to come back to do some bike riding.
