I got a set of those Specialized All Condition Armadillo tires a little over a year ago, for my road bike.

Last month, one of them failed with less than 500 miles on it. I'm not sure what to call how it failed. I've never had this happen before. An area about 1/2" wide by 2" long bulged out. It's like the casing became very weak in that localized spot, allowing the air pressure in the tube to push up a tall blister.

This happened about 45 miles into what was to be a 52 mile ride. I'd been going at moderate speed on good pavement for 30-ish miles, then slowly up a steep climb for several miles, followed by 3-4 miles of very fast downhill coasting--about 45 MPH. I did not encounter any unusual debris, and the tire/tube were not punctured. I was not carrying a heavy load. Right after I finished the fast descent, I heard something rubbing. I never felt the effects of the blistered tire through my butt or hands, but my ears alerted me to it. It was rubbing on the frame every time it came around, specifically on the seat stay bridge, where the rear brake caliper mounts.

Until this happened, I loved the tires. They were very hard to install, but they always gave good performance, and they showed excellent puncture resistance.

I still have the front one, on what is now a spare wheel. I've put new wheels on the bike, with Continental GatorSkin tires.

I hope the tires work out well for you and give long, reliable service.
Thanks Broctoon. Me too. Before I bought these tires I read so many reviews about different makes and models of tires. Most of what I read about these was positive. Folks at my LBS gave them a strong recommendation as well.

I maybe just bought a new track frame. It maybe starts with "F" and ends with "elt TK2."

Just bought Dura Ace 7600 hubs, Araya rims, Phil Wood bottom brackets, Sugino 75 cranks, and a Dura Ace 7400 headset for my GT Pulse and my GF's Waterford Paramount from Retrogression with Scrod's patient & meticulous help. Feels good to finally move forward on this and looking forward to having lovely fresh bikes to ride on SD Velodrome's fresh new resurfacing.

I hope so too! It should be in my hands soon. I was realizing more and more that my Dolan was just too small for me, and I think the Felt should be a much better fit.

With apologies to @nagrom, I broke my vow never to use a multi tool. Feels risky not riding with real Allen wrenches.

I bought two XLAB multi tools, two Nano inflators and another XLAB bag. Now I don't have to swap bags between bikes and both bikes feel .00387 lb lighter.

I just ordered a set of WTB ThickSlicks for my Steamroller. I really like the looks of these tires, and expect them to perform well. Will see when they arrive in a few days.

Arundel sideloader carbon waterbottle cage. Special ordered left side entry on seat tube from my LBS. Arundel is local to my city and the rep lives here, so I'll get it in a few days.

Sadly, no. It's all made in China and branded as Arundel. Just like Apple. All these guys do is design the products.

Brass Monkey that...

Raid the parts bin build a bike!
Plus 3 more cycling caps (you know because the 4 or 5 I have now aren't enough) and some other junk including BTI Chipotle Salsa (taste the greasy bike mechanic ; )

and I am about to drop even more cashola on some Cane Creek headsets (110 for the Mash and only a 40 for that New Albunion) and some Revox Alloy Canti brakes from TRP. I am also picking up a Thomson stem and Nitto M12 front rack because I hate banks holding my money I want the good folks in the cycling industry to have it all...LOL!

Fxkx dude, I only bought some crappy Ci-nell-i you went all filet brazed on these mofos. To be fair I did just build up a custom built Co-Motion Cascadia and am hoping to work up enough cash for a Firefly Titanium All Road (because ano ti, money gone, big smile, much fun) but damn if this isn't going to be nice.

I cannot wait to see it all built up. I love a good filet braze and anything 3DV (or some form of purple) especially that of Paul Price and his Components (a good band name by the way)

I got a whole bunch of cool stuff for my derailleur bike. I ordered it from Wiggle a few weeks ago, and it came really fast, considering they're in England. I finally got time to install everything yesterday.

There's some Dura Ace 10-spd bar end shifters, a Brooks Team Pro Imperial seat, Lizard Skin bar wrap, and new water bottle cages.

I'll try to post some pics later. I'm very happy with my 26 year old Trek 1100. It was a good bike before, and now it's an exceptionally nice one (at least in my opinion, which is the only one that really matters).
