It's for a good friend should he need any

My road bike bar dropped when I hit the pot hole and that's what I'll use it for presently.

Yeah, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. I buy a new race setup once per year and it might get about 600-700 miles of use, most of which is in racing. It's expensive but I get discounts and partial reimbursment as part of my team benefits. These are not high mileage tires and I have different bike(s) for training, commuting, foul weather and crappy roads.

And it makes a big difference! Tires and tubes are the most effective upgrade you can purchase, performance-wise. Some fast tires and latex tubes on a box rim will save more energy than gatorskins on some Zipps, for example.

Thomson carbon handlebars are very tempting for the Kilo tt. A crankset upgrade is probably first though

If you are really in the mood for carbon bars...

Easton E100 Handlebar - 178 grams - $133.87
https://www.backcountry.com/easton-e100-handlebar

40 and 44 only.

Tim,

Those are really nice! I have 37cm bars now on the fixed gear, and 40cm on the road bike. 40 will probably work. Is there a way to tell what stem will work with carbon bars?

Any stem will work as long as the clamp size is the same as the bar diameter. That bar is 31.8 mm.

I don't need new bars but if they had 42's then I'd buy one just because. The 4° flare is enough of a reason at that price.

For the gravel bike - 2x Panaracer Gravelking SK 43 mm. $29.99 @ backcountry is a great price. They won't fit on the rear but one will go on the front and the other will go into my sock drawer.

For the road bike, a replacement Ultegra R8000 11x32 cassette. It was on sale and the old one will need to be replaced at some point this year.

If you're interested in a classic bend, you should give these bars some serious consideration

Also picked up this new toy. It isn't necessarily for the bike but will be used in conjunction with a bike and should up the adventure quotient this spring and summer.

Thats awesome! I’ve been dreaming of doing a bike packing trip centered around a hunt or fishing trip.

Yah. A fishing trip would be great. Fish, ride, sleep, repeat.

My short term goal is to do a few overnighters here in the southeast and I'd like to do a four or five day version of the Alpine Loop in Colorado. It may have to wait until 2020 as my daughters are getting accepted to some pretty pricey schools.

I would set realistic mileage goals, go slow, take lots of photos and have a flexible plan with extra places to explore if I felt good or shortcuts and hotel options if I didn't.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29278109

Maybe combine the bike ride with a four day retreat at the Trappist (Cistercian) monastery in Snowmass.

Too lazy for pics at the moment:
Ritchey WCS Trail 110x0 stem to bring the bars up a smidge on the CX bike.
new DT Swiss R460 rim to replace the one I ground into oblivion this fall
Surly Ultra New rear hub and a used WI front for another wheel build (still need rims and spokes)
gently used 17t WI freewheel
Cinelli camo bar tape
titanium canti stud bolts
