probably rehashing some content, but i've been away from bike forums for a while.

anyway, i ride a lot of fixed miles per year, and i own a number of dedicated fixed gear bikes. the bikes i own now are all road geometry, steel and set-up for long rides. as background, generally i ride the first 1000 miles of the season fixed gear, and have racked up multiple century+ rides fixed, so i am no stranger to miles on the bike. typically ride over 2500 miles a year fixed in addition to a bunch of miles on a geared road bike.

anyway, i'm looking for a "fun" bike to put together this season. something to grab for 20 mile rides or so, fast rides. i often ride with the roadies and keep up just fine on the fixed gear bike, but something a little lighter and racier would suit certain rides better than the more rando set-up bikes i typically ride.

anyway, i know the vigorelli is billed as a track machine, but i've fallen for the looks, the notoriety of columbus airplane tubing (i had a colnago dream for a while, geared bike, same tubing which i loved and miss). i think it would be a good bike to add to my stable, but looking for feedback from folks who ride these on the road and can compare the ride and handling to other known bikes.

i have a pretty regular rotation of over 10 bikes, this would be just something fun to ride...

I don't have a Vig, but they are great for your intended purpose. As long as you aren't going to try and commute with it (though I'd bet its a fine frame for that with some tweaking) it will a great fit.

Be aware, if you are used to having brakes, and want them on this build, you will need to remove the plug from the brake drilling.

Owned a vig from 08-09 that I used for commuting, weekend rides, everything. Geometry was comfortable for the streets, fun for longer rides with road drops. No complaints.

Also wanted to add that after selling the vig, other aluminum steeds I owned (mash, gtb, nago) weren't as comfy bc the geometry was a little more aggressive. Good luck.

I just got my vig, but I've been riding it on the street. Today was the first day I commuted with it...almost 17 miles, all with a headwind. I have road drops on it, usually hang out on the tops or where the hoods would be.

Ha, I don't know. Guess I wanted to try it without. So far, I don't miss them too much. I might switch it up at some point.

Geometry wise, it's better on the street than any MASH ever would be....

True, she uses size small MKS clips. Even with size medium, it still doesn't look like there would be much (if any) overlap.

However, I highly doubt anyone riding a 50cm Vigorelli will have huge feet.

Yeah, even on my 49cm Bianchi Pista Concept, which has much tighter front end geo (74 deg ht, 28mm rake), I have very little overlap.

I bought the Vigorelli for long distance rides (>100km sometimes, usually >70km) where my Colossi LowPro geometry is too aggressive.
Fits very well, no toe overlap, comfortable 12cm drop from saddle to the bar (is there a english term for this?) and stiff.
