For the record, riding brakeless has some benefits, one of which will never be safety. Realize that any increase in awareness or perceived "safety" is a product of a delusional mind, and not the bike.

Quit psyching yourself out! <---- love saying that.

I ride brakeless on my 29er fgfs, I never really ride to fast since it has 2.10 knobby tires. I think I'm more likely to get shot or have my bike jacked downtown than I am killing someone or causing an accident on my bike. On all my fast bikes I do use a front brake though. Most of the time when I've been close to accidents, I haven't had to jam on my brakes or skid to avoid getting hurt or hurting others I had to do a swerve type maneuver.

I ride a brakeless Aventon Mataro 54-16 because I'm stupid. About brakes, I just say to each his own.

As soon as cars and pedestrians adhere to the rules and etiquette of the velodrome, I will ride my FG on the street without brakes.

I, personally, find it impressive how many times this exact same thread can take place.

It will always be,

Im not gonna repeat what I said 1 page ago but just wanted to add that riding brakeless on the road is illegal and can result in a ticket, I got warned for my reflectors by a cop last summer but saw a couple of dude getting one for the brakes.

If you get in a collision you will be in fault no matter what, look like a ****** no mater what.

And to all my friends that say I can handle it bro I ride safe it just force me to be more careful and ........
With the same thinking I could drive drunk as hell, just go slow and since I do it all the time now im good, it force me to be more careful on the road.

If you ride brakeless at least have a bike that cant have brake ( $$$ carbon fork )

The only reason the cop said anything is because you chose to stop and talk with the idiot. Ignore them and evade them and keep on your merry way. Cops generally break all sorts of laws and do much more harm than you could ever do on your bicycle unless you used the thing as a medieval siege weapon. However I agree brakes are handy and you should just have them.

Though Joseph Gordon Levitt told me that brakes are evil and he does have a handsome face, that seems trustworthy. Plus Aasif Mandvi was in the movie as well and he is quite funny on The Daily Show. So I don't know, real world? or sweet ass hollywood movie? If T.V. has taught me anything it would be sweet ass hollywood movie, unless you watch like C-Span or Spongebob.

Simple. I don't.
Used to, but I've gotten sick and tired of too many close calls.

Skidding is not really an effective way of stopping.
A simple analogy to that is the advent of ABS brakes for cars resulting in the far superior stopping power of modern cars to the old without it.

Honestly, this sub needs a zero tolerance policy on brake threads. Lock and delete. These go ****ing no where.

I don't care what people ride - I prefer brakeless in certain situations myself.

Personally I just love to hear the defensive rationalizations of some brakeless riders. Don't kid yourself - just know what you are doing and be careful.

Quit psyching yourself out! Fact: There is no physical benefit to riding brakeless - it's all in your head. So what? Own it, don't give a ****, and enjoy doing your thang.

Those clairvoyant, inter-connected moments that are so fleeting in life are accessible merely by opening up your front door, and cruising the hoods on a brakeless fixie!

Being enlightened is so easy, like really! Rejoice!
