Bianchi Pista Frame Number

Hi,

Im looking at a bike on Gumtree, The guy origionally bought the bike on eBay, cash. He can't find email verification as the email is not valid anymore, a different one is used. He can't find it on ebay purchases as its his brother's account. All sounds a bit shady to me. BUT i have a serial number.

Can anyone give an example of a Pista serial number. What could I do to check the bikes validity?! I literally dont know.

He has just found the ebay transactions and is sending me over screen grabs. Does this mean im in the clear to purchase this bike? Last thing any of us want on this forum is me supporting bike theft!

The serial I have been given is 29 Digits with both letters/numbers. I'm in London in the UK. If that would mean anything.

Thanks,

Jay.

What more "proof" do you really need?

G'day Jay,
I thought this'd be a simple google job, but it appears not. After more searching than I'm interested in seeing it's not my bike, I finally came across a thread on here discussing the issue

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...ification.html

I can't say it'll answer your question because I haven't read through it, however you might find the first reply gives you some room for thought:
If you can figure out Bianchi serial numbers, Vincent, you are a far better man than I!
Best of luck mate.

I have the bike, after checking it all out, checked the serial number against the UK stolen database. All clear. As for determining what in earth the serial can tell me about the bike, I'll give it a miss. Too much crap. Bike is all good. Thanks

Why do these things always happen before I have a chance to read them? Seriously, I'm convinced this site is determined to maintain my pure and innocent vision of the world.
