Pure Fix Premium

For the record, I am not interested in buying one, but does anyone own, or has anyone ridden one of these?

Pure Fix Premium Series Specs | Pure Fix Cycles

Just poking around online today. Looks decent, although still $50 more than a Kilo TT.

Thoughts?

Scrodzilla 03-27-14 09:24 PM

As seemingly odd as it is to say, it actually looks like a very nice bike for the price point. Much better than their previous offerings or the "Pure Track" aluminum frames.

More pics can be seen here (scroll down).

Combing the specs I couldn't find much to dislike about it. Would be really nice if it was lugged.

Does anyone know why "pre-wrapped drops" are a selling point? I'd prefer to wrap my own, thanks.

Scrodzilla 03-28-14 11:16 AM

I chuckled at that too but assuming the majority of Pure Fix's customer base isn't very experienced with things like wrapping bars isn't far-fetched.

because most people buying a complete want a bike that is ready to go out of the box, most aren't exactly handy with bikes (I know I wasn't when I purchased my first one).
otherwise they'd be building their own and just ordering a frameset.

my drops look awful because i decided to try wrapping for the first time...after drinking 8-9 beers.

I definitely think the majority of customers don't want to wrap their bars, and even I appreciate them being pre-wrapped as long as it's a decent job. I was rather shocked at how nicely the wrap job was on my $170 Windsor Clockwork, and have decided to leave it alone, even though I prefer the brake controls reversed.

I suppose you are correct. Someone should make a graph; Wrap job quality on the y-axis, and beer consumption on the x-axis.

Better?

Incorrect. The dependent variable "wrap job quality" should be on the y-axis.

I have to figure they were wrapped by someone in China that wraps 500 sets of bars a day every day. I would hope they do a better job then I do

You guys are funny, its like omg the bars are pre-warpped im not gonna by it ... Just unwrap it !

These specs for this price is just a kick ass kit. Would be a perfect beater for someone with a $2000 track bike or a great starter for anybody who ride it and lock it outside, I mean it even already comes with two thickslick and not cheap ass Kenda 28mm tire, thats a small detail but 2 thickslick and the pain to change them it's like 60$ right there.

The track bar is also way better and a other 30-60$ saving, the other one came with a BMX bars ....

They really hit their target market hard with this kit, nothing really bad to say or hate about it. No flashy colors or useless deep rim ...

I was not saying that should influence purchase, I was simply asking why it was a selling point listed in their "features" that's all.

Well I don't try to be funny, but your outrageous number of post on this forum make your opinion stronger than mine.

Scrodzilla 03-28-14 07:54 PM

I've been here for 5 years and was once a moderator.

Yea, WAS :giver:

50voltphantom 03-28-14 08:13 PM

That does look like a pretty good ride. I'd ride one.

his opinion is stronger because he's ridden for a while and owns a bike shop.

i can put a new thickslick on in a couple of minutes, so saying that they're hard to put on is discrediting your opinion from the get go

can't we all just get along?

On some level, you have to respect his dedication to this weird act of theoretical purchase trolling. Dude definitely stays on brand.
