Fork rake?
 

I was thinking about putting a new fork on my Fyxation. The stock fork is 38mm rake. I have a 43mm rake carbon fork I took off my road bike. Can I conceivably use that on the Fyxation or is that going to screw up my handling?

What is your current trail measurement?

Is the carbon fork the same axle to crown measurement?

no. axle to crown new fork is 355 compared to 380 on current. Seeming like a worse and worse idea..

What is your head tube angle and what size tires do you run? I'll do the math for the effect on the trail number.

Thanks. Head tube is 130mm. I'm running 700x28 now but I have 700x25 I can put on if it made a difference.

You currently have ~ 64mms of trail. With the carbon fork you'd have ~59mms.

59mm trail is considered perfectly fine. A little more nimble and a little less stable, but no big deal.

Other things I'd consider though, the carbon fork will drop the front a whole inch. Will that be OK for your riding position? Your top tube angle will drop and that may or may not look good to you. Your bottom bracket will be lower as well. Not the whole inch, but it wil increase the possibility of a pedal strike.

Edit: Seat tube angle would get a little steeper too.

Thanks. Math has never been my strong suit. I like the way bike handles so I'll stick with the stock fork. Don't need an upgrade but just wanted to see if the one I had laying around would work. Sounds like it would change too many characteristics
