How Does This Look?
Hey guys, I am looking to get a fixed gear bike, and I have found this bike on Craigslist. What do you guys think?
Frame: Leader LD-735tt Hylix carbon fiber fork TT fork Tektro carbon fiber caliper front brake Continental Gatorskin tires R4 tripple walled deep v wheelset with flip-flop rear hub Fixation platform pedals and skid straps Origin8 27.2 Seatpost White alloy stem, 26.0, 90cm Fixation silver bullhorn bars Bar tape in great shape Tektro reverse bar-end brake lever Gusset half-link 1/8 inch chain, still noisy, as it is not broken in. Lasco crankset 170mm, 1/8 inch, 130 bcd, 46T 17t cog Bontrager seat Edit: Added Pics http://i.imgur.com/HDrUNbS.png http://i.imgur.com/5BKtGZs.png http://i.imgur.com/9BQjBF9.png http://i.imgur.com/TTMqk2G.png http://i.imgur.com/Wez5H1F.png http://i.imgur.com/g9m6qPo.png What do you guys think would be a fair price for this? Is it going to be a sold option for me? I don't plan on doing anything to strenuous, just a beginner fixed gear, and I'll see where it goes from there :) Thanks! |
Why don't you post a picture of it, so we can see the condition of the parts. Nothing is really high end on there from what I see, I would pay around $450 at most. If everything is in near new condition.
|
I added some pics, everything looks to be in good condition.
The lowest he said he'd take is $500, not sure how I feel about that. I have about $600 to spend, is there anything in particular I should be looking for on Craigslist or used? I am in the Spokane, WA area btw. |
I'm not sure what you should be looking for. It depends if you plan to ride at the track, or on the street for longer rides. Or you plan to ride on trails and what have you. What type of riding you plan on doing and what terrain you're going to ride on is what depicts what type of bike you'll need.
|
Nothing stands out on this bike to really make it worth buying to me. I'd only be interested in it if the price was next to nothing so I could just flip it for quick profit. Beyond that I'd rather pick up a Kilo TT or some other reputable budget level complete then pick up that dudes build, it just doesn't have a huge wow factor to make it worth buying over a budget complete bike.
|
So I would most likely be better off with a Kilo TT?
I want mostly an all-purpose bike, but I have toyed with the idea of taking it to the track to try out. |
That's horrible.
But others will disagree. |
Pics won't load at work for me, so I can't say if the bike looks good.
If you want an all purpose bike, the 735 probably isn't the most solid option. EDIT: didn't realize this was the older 735TT. |
That's the time trial frame which they don't sell anymore (and probably for a good reason). I'm no expert on it but that is a frame designed for triathlon and time trial which are generally designed to go straight and not for handling ability. Probably not the best choice for a general use bike

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
$50 sure $500 hell no when will these pointless "aero" frames go away? It's about as far from a practical every day bike as you can get. All flash, no substance. Generic and ugly af |

Tri type of bike for general use is like using a NASCAR racer to take the kids to school or get groceries. Doesn't work too well.

I deleted the slap fight between prooftheory and cobrabyte. Carry on.

Just so it doesn't get lost though, everyone hates that bike.

Funny how BD sells those wheels on bikeisland.com for $140 and over there they claim the retail value is $200
