Dude, that's what dumb**** kids are programmed to do. JYD is obviously intended to transport us adult-type folks back to that kind of nonattached freedom

And that is what my Kona Unit is for. I don't care if I scratch up the nonexisting sweet color scheme and it isn't unique.

if a bike has heritage and in such pristine condition it should be preserved, i still question the decision to not ride it as intended. the all-city JYD doesn't have a heritage, its is designed to carry a nostalgia shared by many of us but meant to be ruined via use.
im a firm believer in the 'USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT, MAKE IT DO OR DO WITHOUT' mantra. ride it until it is broken. then fix or replace.
im positive the people over at all-city would agree.

There's a whole lotta this running around this thread
The Black-or-White Fallacy
You can ride and enjoy it without being wantonly destructive. That doesn't automatically mean you're babying the thing and treating like it's "made of glass". I agree it would be a waste to buy (and build) it, then not ride it, but I also agree that it's equally dumb to tear up a limited production item, whether by neglect or willful abuse.

If I had a JYD, I'd likely end up trashing it. But the first nick or scratch would piss me off for at least a week.
And fwiw... I never intended to rag on anyone who would buy a JYD and beat the piss out of it. I saw "150" and "limited production" and my cheapskate side took over. Do with your possessions as you please, folks.
Let's get back to talking about how cool that bike is now, ok?

I'm struggling to understand how wanton destruction isn't willful abuse.
(and, you're just doubling down on the false-dichotomy here, too.)

I think this bike should come with the option of a NYC delivery guy colorful tape finish package.

So long as you've found a way to act smug and feel superior, that's all that really matters!

I bought all 150 and I am going to set them all on fire so nobody can argue about them. I will then carefully preserve the charred remains and sell them on ebay in 20 years for a huge profit.

I really, really like this frame. I wish I could afford a second build right now as I'd love to have a low gear, fat tire bike to mess around on at the campground or lake or whatever. Perhaps next year when I get some bills paid down.

I have a medium on order, my biggest question now is the wheels. It's not exactly easy to find a rim brake 29er wheelset... Beyond that. Probably flat bars, old school Deore brakes, and a BMX crank TBD
