I do what I like, I like what I do. I wouldn't call myself that; even though I like bikes, good beer, and the occasional briar pipe full of tobacco, which are "hipster" things, I like heavy metal, sports, dislike tattoos, enjoy working on my car as much as my bike, a 98 Honda Civic undergoing a JDM conversion; enjoy firearms, hunting, fishing, working out, am religious, and positively HATE coffee. I don't wear glasses, the only hats I ever wear are sports related, my style is very typical 25 year old white male (shirts: bands, sports, polos. Pants/shorts: cargo or 5 pocket boot cut jeans. Shoes: DC skate shoes, Army boots, or New Balances). I guess I'm just me.

I've come to the conclusion that say there are 100 things that describe a hipster for example... There's no way anyone could not like at least one of those things. So if someone likes a few of those things then they are described a hipster. I'm reading what you guys like and I am so different than all of you, yet we are all hipsters. Lol. This has got to be the broadest label I've ever seen.

Yeah man, it def doesn't. I live all the way up in the far northeast, I had my first hipster sighting yesterday actually. Besides that I have only seen a guy on a Cinelli ride by once in a while.

I always wore Converse as a kid because they were cheap and my family was poor. They were like two pairs for 20 or 30 bucks. I hated those shoes. Then they became popular and got more expensive so my parents didn't buy them for me anymore. I was so excited. My dad always said I'd like them since they became popular. Haven't changed my opinion, still think they are ugly as all hell.

I use my stove top espresso maker and pour it over ice cubes to make my iced coffee. The ice dilutes it just right and cools it just right. Feels great in the summer. Now I want one; after dinner with bourbon.

I listen to extreme metal, wear band tees or vnecks, skinny cut-offs (purely riding apparel) have a mustache, live off coffee, and i refuse to own a car. If that makes me a hipster than **** it.

tbh i got called a hipster for making my fixie look nice, colour coded and basically because its a fixie. tbh i really enjoy fixing bikes, customising and riding to my hearts content. that doesnt make me a "hipster".about 6 years ago, way before i had a fixie i had a bmx, i used to go to a special warehouse that had ramps and every friday me and my mates would go and have a really good time. back then the term "hipster" never even existed.the reason ive chosen to have a fixie is because of the single speed. i hate gears. the change to top gear, the clicking and clacking, the 10 seconds of spinning your peddles until the gears kick in, tbh id rather just walk than do that. you're apparently a hipster just for having a fixed gear bike. i hate stereotypes. i love metal music too, does that make me a hipster with good music taste, or does that make me a metal head who likes to ride and customize bikes? tbh i think it just makes me a metal lover, who enjoys the bike life, whats the point of riding a bike if you dont enjoy what it looks like or how it rides?
edit: i also heard that having a beard is a "hipster" thing now. geez ive had a beard since i was like 16, im 25 now! - again before the term hipster come around.

Hipster has been in use since the 1940s, sometimes as "hepster."

Hipsters were usually middle-class white youths seeking to emulate the lifestyle of the largely-black jazz musicians they followed.
The word would fade for years until it was reborn in the early '90s, used again to describe a generation of middle-class youths interested in an alternative art and music scene.
